MAYOR'S MESSAGE
Dear Vallejo, 2021 held its fair share of issues, but we now must look towards the future. Together, we have the opportunity to make 2022 a prosperous year for our community. Mid-year adjustment for our City's budget is just around the corner. It is increasingly vital that you let your voice be heard about how you would like your money spent by contacting your City Council representative and letting them know what is important to you. I've heard the gamut of complaints about potholes since the rains started; I have seen many myself on our streets. I understand and share your grievances. The potholes can be a botheration and, at times, even dangerous. I can assure you that public works are aware of the problem that the storms exacerbated. They are diligently working to rectify the situation. I would also like to discourage pothole vigilantism. It can be a hazardous task to undertake repairs without the proper help with traffic control. Often these efforts and money will all be wasted without adequate compaction techniques if the rains carry away the asphalt once again. Rather, I implore you to frequently utilize our SeeClickFix system at seeclickfix.com/vallejo to report potholes or any other issues that require service. I want to remind you of the impending district lines changes. New districts from Congress to Council will be decided in this coming year. Staff and our redistricting consultant have worked industriously to inform the community about this change. The drawing of district lines will change who you can and cannot vote for and how your tax dollars are spent. Thus far, we have only received one piece of input from a community member on where they believe the boundaries of their neighborhood are. If you are interested in submitting a map of your neighborhood, please go to the redistricting website at www.mapvallejo.org. You can learn more about the process there. On January 11, at 8 pm in Council Chambers, there will be a public hearing to discuss and revise the first round of draft maps, discuss election sequencing, and identify focus maps.
Your Mayor, Robert McConnell

Wishing you a safe and prosperous New Year.
