Honoring the Life and Legacy of Officer Jeffrey Lynn Azuar, Badge 371
April 12, was the 23rd anniversary of the end of watch for Officer Jeffrey Lynn Azuar, Badge #371, who was shot and killed in the line of duty while attempting to serve an arrest warrant.
We salute Officer Azuar for being an amazing father, husband, brother, and colleague! Officer Azuar is a certified hero and we honor him and his legacy, today and every day there after.
A STATEMENT FROM LT. STEPHEN DARDEN:
"All, 23 years ago today, one of our brothers, Jeffery Lynn Azuar, Badge #371, was shot and killed in the line of duty while attempting to serve an arrest warrant. I will never forget the sadness of that day and the pain we all endured in the days to follow.
For those very few of us who were here, I am certain the memory of that fateful day is forever burned into our minds and will never be forgotten. I worked with Jeff for 4 ½ years and back then, I was still considered
a "rookie" as I worked alongside the many veteran officers that once filled our ranks. Although I did not interact with Jeff beyond the workplace, other than the department parties he hosted annually, I knew him well enough to know he was a good man.
Jeff was an extremely proud Vallejo Police Officer who was always sharp in uniform. I remember him always smiling and laughing. It made me value my job even more to see such a senior officer so happy at work. Once you were hired, he genuinely welcomed you as if you were truly a part of his family. At least, that is how he made me feel. I grew to learn that it wasn't necessarily the person that prompted the warm reception, but it was the patch on my sleeve. Our patch is heavy with respect and honor because of Jeff and other officers like him. Jeff spent more time out of his patrol car than he did inside. He knew when to show compassion but also knew when to use force. His relationships were countless throughout our city, which were made evident at the service that was attended by thousands. Also, along with the many heartfelt testimonies that described the many lives he touched.
God Bless and please stay safe!"

Born in 1970 in Napa, California, TJ has studied and practices in multiple creative and technical disciplines, MIDI and Sound Design, Stagecraft, Art and Graphic Arts in LA, Napa, Central Coast and San Francisco. TJ is a solo artist and a contributor and collaborator in various forms from art shows, published in activist rags advocating for homeless with Street Spirit, Street Sheet and Homeless in the Homeland. TJ recalls “I had a one-man painting show at the last club with a cabaret license in SF and Edward Snowden was in attendance”. Locally TJ produced the Punk and Edge Arts Festival “Mocktoberfest,” the first of its kind in Vallejo.
Children received instruments and lessons free of charge in their chosen genre. This was in partnership with the Mira Theater and included 2 stages at the Empress and Mira theaters with 13 bands as well as a showing of “Afropunk” and an art show. Former museum director Jim Kern’s set list sheets from "The Cramps” appeared in the art show as well as an “Otaku Patrol Group” Cyberpunk leather jacket as artifact displays. Klaus Flouride of the Dead Kennedy’s was in attendance and a presenter through Schroom Custom Guitarworks, Consumer music and Ernie Ball were sponsors.
Today TJ and his wife Christina own and operate a small production company Omnific Pictures. He is actively illustrating zines, books and reimagining classic literature as graphic novels, and makes experimental music under a secret moniker in the top 10 of the genre for 8 years.

The Menagerie Oddities Market presents the San Francisco Bay Area's 3rd Annual World Goth Day Festival on May 6, 2023 from 11 am - 8 pm at the historic Empress Theatre in Vallejo. There will be three areas of activation for the festival: the dark art & oddities market along Virginia Street, the Empress Lounge, and the Empress Theatre, all of which will be supported by roaming entertainers, a second outdoor stage, food trucks and no-host bars. This is the only Event of its kind in the state, produced by Bay Area artists, and attracts nearly 2,000 members of the Goth community from all over the West Coast.
The goth subculture is one of the most creative around, so take the day to see or create something new; whether it's a piece of gothic jewelry or clothing, a work of art or even some new music! Get inspired and allow your creative
juices to flow black, purple and red!
On a side note... Vallejo’s favorite “Steampunk” scene is a sub-genre of Goth. Imagine a society with highly developed technology that evolved slightly different to how society did. A society that kept steam and the the pride of creating beautiful, well-made, long-lasting things that were used in everyday life from machines to fashion. People of this society enjoy their technology and take great pride in everything that they make. Imagine a world without plastic and with people who enjoy learning and creating!
