To celebrate, we teamed up with Recology and VALCORE to offer a FREE compost giveaway to Vallejo residents (proof of residency required)! Two bags of organic compost is available to each customer (while supplies last), at the following locations: Recology 2021 Broadway Street, Valleo Saturdays | 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (707) 552-3110 VALCORE Recycling 38 Sheridan Street, Vallejo Monday - Friday | 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed from 1-2 p.m.) (707) 645-8258

Did you know that all composting requires three basic ingredients? • Browns: Provides carbon dioxide (things like dead leaves, branches, and twigs). • Greens: Provides nitrogen (things like grass clippings, vegetable waste, fruit scraps, and coffee grounds). • Water: Provides moisture to help break down organic matter. The right amount of water, greens, and browns is important for compost development. Your compost pile should have an equal amount of browns to greens. You should also alternate layers of organic materials of differentsized particles.
