BEAT THE HEAT The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for Solano County from 2 p.m. Wednesday until 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 19. If you need a cool place to go, all Solano County Library branches are available as cooling centers during regular operating hours (per State mandate, masks are required): JFK Library: 505 Santa Clara Street Springstowne Library: 1003 Oakwood Avenue Monday - Thursday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday - Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beat the Heat with us by following these tips: • DRINK WATER! Stay hydrated and don’t wait until you’re thirsty. • AVOID PEAK TIMES. Stay indoors during the hottest time of the day (10 a.m. - 4p.m.), if possible. • LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK. NEVER leave children or pets in your vehicle. Protect them from heatstroke. • BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR! Check on your vulnerable friends, family, and neighbors. • CONSERVE ENERGY. Wait to use those big appliances (like the clothes dryer) until the evening to avoid the possibility of rotating power outages. For more tips, and cooling center details, click here. 10

JUNETEENTH CELEBRATE FREEDOM June 19, 1865, known as Juneteenth, is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. It is a day of celebration of the journey and freedom of Black people in the US. While many of us in Vallejo are aware of, and widely celebrate Juneteeth, it became an officially recognized Federal holiday this year, when President Biden signed it into legislation on June 17, 2021. City Offices closed are closed on Friday, June 18 in recognition of the holiday.

#MAPVALLEJO MAP VALLEJO - REDISTRICTING Do you know what redistricting is? Redistricting occurs every ten years following the release of the US Census results, and is the regular process of adjusting voting district lines, in accordance with population shifts. This ensures that each district’s elected official represents about the same number of constituents, for population equality, voting rights protections, and in accordance with the California FAIR MAPS Act. Learn more about Vallejo’s redistricting process at MapVallejo.org.
