2021 SOUTH VALLEJO NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AND RESOURCE FAIR WHEN: August 3, 2021, from 6:00p to 8:00p WHERE: Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church 900 6th St., Vallejo, CA 94590 Sponsored by Emmanuel Arms Community, Inc. National Night Out is a Police/Community crime awareness event. We help promote policecommunity partnerships; crime, drug, and violence prevention; safety; and neighborhood unity. Activities will include: • Resource Fair - Local vendors from healthcare, legal and educational sectors, and local businesses. • Free health checks and much, much more. • Free food and clothing • Live entertainment • Games and events for all ages • Raffles with gift giveaways. VALLEJO PD SEEKS COMMUNITY FEEDBACK ON PROPOSED POLICY CHANGES The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) is continuing the process of assessing its policies, programs, and procedures to better serve the Vallejo community. As part of that ongoing process, the Department would like to engage Vallejo residents and stakeholders in providing public comments and feedback on proposed improvements to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct policies. “The heart of leadership and the character of our organization begins with ethics,” Chief of Police Shawny K. Williams stated. “As we include all department and community stakeholders in the process of change, we also want to ensure that we are actively listening, engaging, and building upon a solid foundation of core ethical principles. As part of our VPD Implementation Plan, OIR Report recommendations and collaboration with the California, Department of Justice, your feedback is integral to continuing our reform efforts. JOIN THE OPERATION PEACE COMMUNITY TASKFORCE (OPCT) Each month, the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) Operation PEACE Community Taskforce (OPCT) meets to discuss prevalent issues in the City of Vallejo and solutions for addressing them. Through this taskforce, we are able to provide department updates, build community partnerships, plan events and increase awareness about the programs, services and resources available to the public. Highlights from this taskforce include our 2020 Virtual Community Day, 2021 Community Clean-Up Day in South Vallejo, and partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The OPCT is currently planning a community townhall and human trafficking awareness and prevention event scheduled tentatively for August 28, 2021. CLICK HERE to sign-up for the taskforce! Our next meeting will be held Thursday, July 16, 2021 at 6:00 pm OPCT Mission Statement: The Operation PEACE Community Taskforce (OPCT) represents diverse community members working to identify the contributing factors of crime and violence, mitigate their effects and create long term solutions for a safer Vallejo.The Operation PEACE Community Taskforce will achieve these goals by building community partnerships and increasing awareness about the programs, services and resources available to the public. 10

OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT: ALADDIN Please join Southern Land Company on Friday, July 16, for an outdoor movie night featuring Aladdin. This will be a fun, old-fashioned movie night for the whole family to enjoy. Starring Will Smith, this popular 2019 film tells the tale of a kind-hearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier who vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true. This event will take place at 860 Nimitz Avenue, the parking lot behind the coal sheds. Tickets are $5 per vehicle, gates will open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will begin right after sunset. E-WASTE IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD Have you seen the different types of E-waste illegally dumped in Vallejo? Instead of dumping on the roadsides and alleyways, our partners at Recology offer residents various ways to properly dispose of E-waste. Why is it important? Our environment is harmed due to elements E-waste contains, a variety of toxic components like lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, flame retardants. When dumped in a landfill, these materials can contaminate the soil and our groundwater. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT IS BACK! National Night Out (NNO) is back for 2021 and the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) is excited to join the festivities! Join us on August 3, 2021 for an evening of community-building, food and fun! PASTOR RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION On Friday, July 9, Pastor Jimmy Dean Neal received a certificate of appreciation from Mayor Robert McConnell for his brave actions during the Skyline Fire. The certificate reads: This certificate of appreciation is presented to recognize your courageous efforts on June 15, 2021. Your quick action helped to alert neighbors, slow down the wildland fire on the 300 block of Skyline Drive and prevent additional damage and potential loss of life.
