FORMER VALLEJO MANUFACTURED GAS PLANT UPDATE On September 20, 2021, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will begin field work associated with the cleanup of a 26-acre area, where a manufactured gas plant (MGP) operated about 100 years ago. The site is owned by the City of Vallejo. Project oversight is provided by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and work will be conducted with permits from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission, and the City of Vallejo. DTSC has approved a plan to remove or contain contamination in soil and groundwater associated with former gas plant operations. This work is necessary to support future redevelopment of the site. Work will be conducted Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with occasional Saturday work, and includes. For more information, please see the weekly report from PG&E HERE.

SOLTRANS PUBLIC ART UNVEILING Solano County Transit (SolTrans) and the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) would like to invite the community to the unveil the Public Art and Garden Installation at the Vallejo Transit Center, 311 Sacramento Street. CALTRANS UPDATE: I-80 SIX BRIDGES PROJECT The Magazine Street Overcrossing at Interstate 80 in Vallejo is back open to the public! Caltrans Bay Area has reopened the Magazine Street Overcrossing at Interstate 80 (I-80) in south Vallejo. The reopening happened on August 27, 2021. Crews were able to increase the vertical clearance to 16 feet, 6 inches, to meet current federal standards. Caltrans will continue to increase the vertical clearance on four overcrossings that cross over I-80 in the City of Vallejo just north of the Carquinez Bridge. Benicia Road at I-80 closed on September 7th and will remain closed until construction is completed in Jan. 2022. Caltrans will provide more information regarding the closing of the other overcrossing projects soon.
