BEAUTIFY VALLEJO! Fall is a great time to refresh your yard and garden by adding new mulch in preparation for winter. Mulch helps retain valuable moisture, and once you start digging around, you may find a cute little insect that are often referred to as Roly Pollies or pill bugs. These little creatures are generally found under a brick or a wet object and play a key role in renewing our soils. Their official species name is Oniscidea and their main diet is mostly on dead plant matter. As the dead plant matter moves through their system, it removes heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium, and lead. The excrement that is left behind becomes part of the clean soil. So next time you see a Roly Poly in your garden or yard, remember they are an important part of our eco-system and no matter how small, their function makes a huge impact!

WATER WISE TIP OF THE WEEK! Who doesn’t love belting out a good tune in the shower? Do your water bill a favor and save your best Stevie Nicks impersonation for the stage! On average, every minute of shower time equates to two gallons of water, and the shower of an average American lasts eight minutes. If you shower daily, cutting back your shower time by just one minute could save SIXTY gallons of water per month and keep cash in your pocket!
