LSS Assistant Instructors
Through classroom learning, in-water practice and volunteer scheduled hours, the Lifesaving Society’s Assistant Instructor course prepares candidates to help certified instructors with swimming and lifesaving classes. This course provides an introduction to swimming instruction and competencies required for successful teaching. Candidates are introduced to key principles of learning and teaching as they master basic progressions. The roles and responsibilities of instructors and their assistants are emphasized. The trainer will make arrangements on the first day of the course concerning setting up the volunteer hours. National Lifeguard Service (NLS)
This is the highest lifeguard training award in the country and the basic certification required to lifeguard as recognized by the Ontario Health Act.
