An accessible boardwalk that meanders through this beach ridge provides some of the best bird watching opportunities in the Midwest. In this course we’ll explore a variety of techniques and discuss abstract painters to understand the basics of non-representational painting. Even if you don’t intend to be an abstract artist, you will find this class exciting. Work on many sketches and three to four paintings. Rate: $10 at reg Instructor: Goodman/Arnold Fear of falling can be just as dangerous as falling itself. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in severe physical weakness, making the risk even greater. This class is an evidence based program that can help improve quality of life and prolong independence. A workbook is provided and a healthy refreshment will be served at each meeting. Crank with Hank Rate: FREE Instructor: Stonerook Hank is looking for some able bodied cyclists interested in area rides on the Alum Creek Trail. All riders must wear a helmet, have a bicycle in decent mechanical shape, and not be intimidated with the ride distances. The ride will be canceled if raining. April: Depart from the Senior Center and head south to Ohio Dominican College on this fairly flat 24 mile (round trip) ride. Return around noon for lunch (on your own.) May: Depart from Hanby Park and head north to Galena on this 16 mile (round trip) ride. This ride has several short stretches of road, including some challenging intersections around Home Depot and UDF, plus a few short hills. Enjoy a refreshment in Galena (on your own) before returning to Westerville.

Safe Call is a daily telephone check-in service for home-bound, handicapped and elderly residents. Once you are enrolled in Safe Call, a computer will call your home every day at a time you have chosen. Financial Assistance for Bus Passes Rate: FREE

The Westerville Senior Association, Inc. has established a program for those members who require financial assistance to participate in the Senior Center’s Transportation Program. This program is open to members whose incomes are 150% of the poverty level, according to the 2014 Guidelines. Those wishing to apply, or reapply, should pick up and return the forms at the Senior Center to Sande. All requests for assistance are confidential.

Westerville & New Albany Senior Support Rate: FREE

This program is an in-home consultation service. Your consultant will be able to provide: emotional support, limited transportation, referral and linkage to other county services, assistance with questions and problems, and friendship. To reach a consultant, call the Westerville/New Albany Senior Support Program at (614) 901-6560 between the hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Mon - Fri. We will take the needed information, answer any questions and link you with a consultant.
