ith average high temperatures hovering around 70 degrees in January and February, it’s no wonder that Arizona attracts flocks of winter visitors. Add to that world-class dining, resorts and entertainment year-round, not to mention a diversity of landscapes ranging from low desert to pine-topped mountain peaks, and Arizona might just be the perfect destination. This year, however, Arizona is out-doing itself as some of the biggest names and games in the world head to the Valley. Starting off the year with a roar, Scottsdale becomes a car-lovers dream as the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, Russo ad Steele Collector Automobile Auction and Gooding & Company Auction roll into town. These annual events draw collectors from all over the world, and offer automobile eye-candy for the masses. Read the story on page 5. The always popular and frequently rowdy Waste Management Phoenix Open tees off January 26 – February 1 1 at TPC Scottsdale. With the major players on the PGA Tour i n in attendance and the lively entertainment of the Coors Light Birds Nest, it is no wonder i t it is called the “Greatest Show on Grass.” Read more on page 6.

At the end of January, the Valley will welcome the biggest sporting event of the year as Super Bowl XLIX kicks off its ground game in advance of Super Bowl Sunday. With Fan Fests and satellite events for everyone in Glendale, Phoenix and Scottsdale, it all culminates with the big game at University of Phoenix Stadium February 1.
