THE REGENERATION TOUR
The Radiophonic Workshop emerge from the studio for their first live tour Spring 2014
The REGENERATION Tour
Electronica pioneers The Radiophonic Workshop, (composers of themes for Doctor Who, The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, Timewatch, Newsround and Quatermas), recreate some of their best known music live alongside new tracks from their forthcoming album of collaborations.
The Radiophonic Workshop – pioneers of electronica – play a series of live dates across the UK and Ireland this spring. In a first for the legendary composers - famed for their landmark sound design and musical themes for Doctor Who, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Timewatch, Newsround and Quatermass – the Workshop recreate some of their best known music live alongside new tracks from their forthcoming album of collaborations. The REGENERATION TOUR features original BBC Radiophonic Workshop personnel Paddy Kingsland, Roger Limb, Peter Howell & Dr Dick Mills with Mark Ayres as MD and ex-Prodigy sideman Kieron Pepper joining on drums. The show includes classic footage from the archives along with tributes to legendary Workshop composers Delia Derbyshire and John Baker. Always at the forefront of technology and sound design selected live appearances will be augmented with 3D Surround Sound using state-of-the art spatial technology to immerse the audience. Dick Mills, studio partner to Delia Derbyshire, and founder member of the Workshop, helped realise the original Doctor Who Theme in 1963. “As the senior player in this Radiophonic Band I’ve travelled through time and space with that well-known Doctor many times. But this is a real journey into the unknown for all of us. For most of our careers we have remained unseen, a supporting part of someone else's TV or radio programs. Taking the music out of the Workshop means simply being ourselves as performers, sound designers and musicians and, of course, there’s the huge adrenalin rush of it being live! It's going to be a thrill to meet audiences wherever they are and whatever dimension they are from!” The Workshop play Manchester’s VIctoria Warehouse (Friday 28th February), London’s Cecil Sharp House (Saturday 1st March), Glasgow School of Art (Friday 21st March), Brighton St. Georges Church (Sunday 23rd March), Birmingham Town Hall (Monday 24th March), Belfast MAC (Wednesday 26th March), Edinburgh Pleasance Theatre (Thursday 27th March) and ending at Leeds City Varieties Music Hall (Monday 31st March) Tickets for the REGENERATION TOUR from Ticketmaster.co.uk, gigsandtours.com or gigsinscotland.com theradiophonicworkshop.co.uk
