Planet Baobab: a quirky oasis in a quirky part of the world. Here we live cheek-to-tusk with old elephants, sleep out under a celestial canopy of desert stars, stay in Bakalanga huts with en-suite showers and Afro-chic interiors, eat the finest pan-African cuisine and drink cheap beer with vagabonds, travellers and locals.

What are the facilities at PB? • A giant and super-chilled swimming pool. • A funky, Afro-chic bar & restaurant with scrumptious pan-African dishes! • A quirky tea garden, traditionally painted & designed by a local artist! • Electricity. • Wi-Fi internet access.

YEAR ROUND • Get up close and personal with super-friendly habituated Meerkats. • Tour the local village and learn about Batswana culture. • See a Traditional Healer. • Visit a local cattle post and enjoy a delicious traditional lunch. • Join an expedition to Nxai Pan where you will experience great game viewing & Baines Baobabs. • Walk through a baobab forest with a knowledgeable Safari Guide. DRY SEASON • Quad bike across the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. • Sleep out under the stars. WET SEASON • View the spectacular zebra and wildebeest migration.


When is a good time to go? OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND DRY SEASON (Winter): 25th Apr – 31st Oct WET SEASON (Summer): 1st Nov – 24th Apr

Zebra & Wildebeest rely on the Boteti River during the Dry Season & migrate East to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in the rainy season, and stay until the waterholes dry up.

Activities are weather dependent.

How do I get there? • Drive yourself to Planet Baobab. • PB is accessible by two wheel drive. • Look out for the Giant Aardvark, 200kms from Maun & 100kms from Nata. • Road transfers are available from Maun & Gweta. • Fly from Maun to Gweta.
