“OSLO’S BEST MUSEUM” Go on board and explore one of Norway’s definitive national treasures – the polar expedition ship Fram! This world famous sailing ship was built in 1892 by Fridtjof Nansen – Norway’s greatest national hero. In addition, you can’t fail to be impressed by our account of the first fabled and dramatic journey through the Northwest Passage aboard Roald Amundsen’s small but sturdy Gjøa.

Through original film footage , unique photographs and a fascinating exhibition with information in 10 languages, the Fram Museum tells the stor y of how men of steel and ships of wood explored and charted the most dangerous and desolate regions of the world – the North and South Poles. Many expeditions went disastrously wrong – a few succeeded. See unique artefacts and realistic models from histor y’s most important polar expeditions. In a spectacular film in super wide format you see vivid images of Fram and its crew in the freezing antarctic wasteland, the dogs they took with them and the penguins they met. Enjoy our hands-on activity centre and chilling polar simulator – and experience our incredible prize-winning northern lights experience , shown ever y 20 minutes! Café and a museum shop with a broad selection of gifts and souvenirs.

Enjoy delicious food at an array of restaurants and food halls. Oslo has it all: exciting street food and world class gourmet restaurants.

Around 5,000 concerts are held in the city each year. Oslo is a true festival city, with everything from music festivals, to food and children’s events. With a top skiing facility at Holmenkollen it’s not surprising that so many sporting events are held in Oslo. 2016 will see both the X-Games and the Biathlon World Cup coming to town.

Oslo is Europe’s fastest growing capital city with a population of about 648.000. The last few years have seen Oslo change considerably with new landmarks and a unique skyline of high-rise buildings which have both changed and added to the existing neighbourhoods. Oslo has become a new hub for contemporary architecture, a place where historical landmarks and modern projects sit side by side. The opening in 2015 of the nine kilometre sea promenade has opened the city up to the fjord, its beautiful islands and beaches.

Bistro Brocante
Bistro Brocante is a cosy French bistro located in the heart of Grünerløkka. Bistro Brocante serves good French “home cooking” from a set menu as well as today’s lunch and dinner based on seasonal local produce at reasonable prices. The bistro is located next door to Fru Hagen, and has a pleasant outdoor area on Thorvald Meyers gate perfect for sunny summer days. Friday and Saturday tend to be popular so we stay open as long as the people want. Welcome!
Located at Egertorget on Karl Johan with its outdoor serving area, 3 Brødre is Oslo’s most central outdoor eatery. The well frequented pub on the ground floor has maintained its original interior from 1896. It’s a natural meeting place for lunch, dinner, after work gettogethers, dancing and sing-alongs in our piano bar. We focus on good Belgian pub food, serving specialities like mussels, and have one of Oslo’s best selection of Belgian beers in our very own cellar.
Vaaghals was one of the first restaurants to open in the Opera neighbourhood, which is generally referred to as the Barcode. The restaurant takes its name from the historical discovery of the boat that was excavated in the area. Vaaghals, has since October 2014, been a melting pot for unique Norwegian ingredients and good Norwegian and international dishes. The food we serve is the kind we would want to serve to our best friends. A good meal is the coming together of good flavours and good atmosphere. This is the place to spread the vibe whilst enjoying a friendly chat and a drink.

The National Opera and ballet and its award winning building, by Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta, is also to be found in Bjørvika. The Opera is one of Oslo’s biggest attractions, and visitors are welcome to stroll up and along the roof to enjoy the views. Adjacent to the Opera is Sørenga, a modern neighbourhood with new apartment blocks, canals, cosy parks and Oslo’s very own sea pool.
Tjuvholmen Over 20 different architects contributed to designing the buildings that make up Tjuvholmen, a new, modern neighbourhood by the seafront just past Aker Brygge. On the outmost point lies one of Oslo’s main attractions, the Astrup Fearnley Museum, created by master architect Renzo Piano, which is constituted of three pavilions under one big glass sail. The exclusive The Thief hotel is also to be found in this area.
Approximately 10,000 people work in the Barcode area.
Vulkan One of Oslo’s most interesting city development projects is Vulkan. Innovative and environmentally friendly architecture defines this urban neighbourhood. Amongst the apartment and office blocks lies the Mathallen, a food market set in the remains of an old factory. The Norwegian Museum for Design and Architecture (DoGA), a must for architect enthusiasts, is located just down the road on the banks of the Akerselva river.
Holmenkollen The famous ski jump at Holmenkollen was rebuilt for the 2011 Skiing World Cup. The facility, which includes the world’s oldest ski museum, was designed by the Danish firm JDS Architects. There are wonderful panoramic views of Oslo from the top of the ski-jump.
