I am Oana. ARTIST
I am a self-taught artist and my creative ideas come from my inner feelings. I love to express my unique art in a different manner, using this smaller but unexpected things. I paint and decorate shells because these are important to me. They are the stuff of my childhood. I also love them in terms of aesthetics.
Finding pretty shells on a beach feels pretty amazing. Even more amazing? Using those shells as the basis for great art! I love the process of painting. You just sort of learn into your feelings, learn into your body, learn into your intuition. It's spontaneous. You don't plan ahead. You paint what you're feeling at the moment. I like to use vivid combinations of materials, including oil and acrylics, charcoals and pastels. My art work reflects my busy and active mind. I have a deep curiosity to
look and explore. As I walk around the city, I absorb colors and spaces, collecting those little fragments and take them away. And then I let those fragmnents explode onto my shells. When I paint using my intuition is like I'm meditating with a brush in my hand. And one more thing, I can't stop painting.
The scallop shell is the recognised symbol of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and anyone going on the walk will see it on the posts marking the way, carvings in churches and homes, and actual shells fastened to backpacks or walking sticks. In French, scallops are called coquilles
Saint-Jacques, named after the Saint who is at the origin of one of the three most important pilgrimages for Christians, alongside Jerusalem and Rome. This unusual icon became the focus of stories about the holy shrine devoted to St. James and , curiously enough, a French dish I love, coquilles St Jacques.

About The Story Concept
Inspired by Nature LISTEN TO THE UNIVERSE I picture a set of these being worn by the bridesmaids at a beach-themed wedding. For me, nature is so wonderfull, there's nothing more revigorating than having a walk through an enchanting forest or having a stroll on a beautiful beach. Using contrasting yet harmonious textures will engage our senses, while the earthly pallete creates a sense of calm and tranquillity just where we need it most.
I paint them one by one FINE EYE FOR DETAIL I am starting with pure intuition, inspiration and high quality products then let these beauties emerge from the paintbrush and intention. The result is a unique little masterpiece that sparkles like a jewel and tells a story that will connect with the right person. I dont't finish a shell, unless I think it is perfect, even if it means waiting again for each dot of paint to
dry. After that, I begin to seal them with a durable satin glaze. The complete process can take 1-2 days with many settled moments waiting for paint, glaze and glue to dry in between.
