MY INSPIRATION

anaO ma I

I am a self-taught artist and my creative ideas come from my inner feelings. I love to express my unique art in a different manner, using this smaller but unexpected things. I paint and decorate shells because these are important to me. They are the stuff of my childhood. I also love them in terms of aesthetics.

Finding pretty shells on a beach feels pretty amazing. Even more amazing? Using those shells as the basis for great art! I love the process of painting. You just sort of learn into your feelings, learn into your body, learn into your intuition. It's spontaneous. You don't plan ahead. You paint what you're feeling at the moment. I like to use vivid combinations of materials, including oil and acrylics, charcoals and pastels. My art work reflects my busy and active mind. I have a deep curiosity to look and explore. As I walk around the city, I absorb colors and spaces, collecting those little fragments and take them away. And then I let those fragmnents explode onto my shells. When I paint using my intuition is like I'm meditating with a brush in my hand. And one more thing, I can't stop painting.

ABOUT MY SAINT JACQUES SHELLS Scallops are 100% natural and come from the sea. They are on average between 10 and 12 cm wide. Their color varies from one to the other which gives them a unique charm while revealing their beautiful pearly color. Ethically Sourced. I only use shells that have washed up on beaches naturally. Their former inhabitants have moved out. I never kill or harm any animals to get their shells. Please keep in mind that each shell is unique and was once home to a little animal. Any 'imperfections' in the shell should be seen as a badge of honor of this creature's journey from the deep to your door. The pictures are examples of the patterns only. Your shell will be 100% one-of-a -kind and the only one on the planet that will look exactly like yours. Finished shell fronts are waterproof but it is recommended that shells not be immersed in water. Clean shells by wiping with a damp sponge or cloth. * * * These shells are hand collected on the beach and are not taken from live animals. * * *
