September 22 5 p.m. Registration • 5:30–6:30 p.m. Presentation & Light Dinner When dealing with sex and sexuality, older adults often are confronted with many issues. Sex in the later years can be overwhelming or completely absent for a variety of reasons. Some of this has to do with the fact that many older adults are dealing with both physical and emotional losses. But these factors do not have to interfere with enjoying a full sexual life in the later years. Intimate relationships are an important component of the human experience, and, for older adults, they can continue to be extremely beneficial and life-enhancing. This presentation addresses the diverse issues and many questions about sex faced by older adults, including enjoying sex in the later years and dealing with sexual dysfunction.

Building Your Brain 401k

Sherrie All, Ph.D. Director, Chicago Center for Cognitive Wellness September 27 5 p.m. Registration • 5:30–6:30 p.m. Presentation & Hors D’oeuvres Experts predict that the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease will triple in the next 40 years “unless preventative measures are developed.” Did you know that many preventative measures already exist? If people knew more about them and were supported in implementing and maintaining them, great strides in combating this epidemic could be made. Your risk for developing the clinical signs of dementia may have more to do with how much of your brain is “left over” than with the amount of disease or injury that is affecting the brain. That’s where Brain 401(k) comes in. Brain 401(k) is the special reserve of cells and skills in the brain that determines each brain’s resilience and that you can actively invest in throughout your life. In this lively presentation you will learn three simple ways to maximize your investments in your Brain 401(k).
