SPRING 2015 Spring – A Time for Growth The days are growing longer and breezes are blowing warmer. Spring —a time for renewal—is finally here. It’s the time to plant seeds and start again—whether in our gardens or in our souls. CJE SeniorLife is planting seeds throughout the community and seeking great people to join our volunteer team. We know that volunteers who come into our
organization through referrals are the best candidates for helping us serve our older adult population. Do you know someone—a family member, a neighbor or a friend—who wants to make a difference in others’ lives (as well as in his or her own)? Is there someone you think would be a great addition to our CJE volunteer team? If so, please have them call
847-929-3040 or email: volunteers@cje.net. We hope all who celebrated Passover had a wonderful and meaningful holiday. Thanks for all you do for CJE! CJE’s Volunteer Services Department Monica Eorgoff, Director Deborah Granite, Coordinator Nina Sykes, Program Specialist
Friendly Visitor Team at Lieberman Center Who doesn’t love seeing a friendly face? Lieberman Center Friendly Visitor volunteers are that and more to the residents they visit. Telling stories, reading together and doing crossword puzzles are among the activities they share with their resident friends. To help maximize the experience for the volunteers and residents they visit, the Lieberman Friendly Visitor volunteers formed a team that meets quarterly. At these meetings, the sharing of

teers. The relationships formed between residents and volunteers are heart-warming. Everyone loves a friendly face; do you have a smile you’d like to share?
”I look forward to the team meetings to share our experiences with one another. We bond over the enjoyment from being with our Lieberman Friends. As a Friendly Visitor, we not only enrich someone’s life by spending quality time with them, we also enrich our own. We forge unique relationships that focus on what the other has to give, even if it is as basic as a smile or a hug.” — Terry Schwartz, Team Captain of Friendly Visitor Volunteers
Beanie Babies Find Loving Home Andi Kaplan prepares to send her furry friends on their journey to Lieberman Center.
CJE staff community nurse Andi Kaplan and her family have been collecting Beanie Babies for years. To ensure others would experience
the same joy they had in collecting them, these 100 Beanies Babies were donated to Lieberman Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
In their new home, these Beanie Babies will continue their long legacy of making people smile.
Photo IDs Volunteers are required to wear CJE issued photo IDs at all times when volunteering with CJE SeniorLife. If you have not received a photo ID, please call Volunteer Services at 847.929.3040 or email volunteers@cje.net. You may also email us a “driver’s license” type photo for your ID.
Sign In & Out Please sign in and out each time you volunteer at CJE, and be sure to print legibly. An accurate recording of your CJE volunteer time is required for many reasons, including for financial grants, which are essential for CJE to continue to provide services to our older adult population.
