Lieberman Center Parking-Parking-Parking

Lieberman has begun its underground drainage line restoration project. During the construction period, it has been necessary to take several parking spaces out of service to make room for the construction equipment needed. Please note the construction signs that have been placed indicating which parking spots are needed for the project. Maps with the designated spots can also be found around the facility. The project is expected to be complete by April. We appreciate your cooperation during this time and we are sorry for any inconvenience. Elevator Renovations

The three elevators at Lieberman are being upgraded and renovated. The upgrade will include such things as new stainless doors, new fixtures, new ceiling panels, new control panels and a new control system. This will allow all three elevators to work together in a single group yet we will retain the flexibility to take the larger elevator out of the group for special use (Sabbath Use) or in the event of an emergency. Each elevator will take approximately six weeks to complete. The North Elevator renovation begins January 5, South Elevator, February 15 and the Staff elevator April 1.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Wisdom of Youth Recently, a young volunteer, Josh Moosey, came to assist with BINGO at Lieberman Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Because he is a young tween, we asked that his mother accompany him and volunteer too. He helped pass out cards and chips to mark the numbers that were called out. When studying his Torah portion, he saw a parallel between Lieberman’s residents and Moses. Josh wrote, “… one time in the residents’ lives they were leaders, as in a family, or job, or anything else, like Moses was. Now at this time in their lives they really can’t do those things anymore just like Moses in my [Torah] portion. The residents and Moses need more help and they essentially are passing on leadership to the next generation, or in Moses’ case, [to] Joshua.” Josh continues to volunteer at Lieberman, even though he has already celebrated his Bar Mitzvah.

Project Connect “I went to visit my Project Connect friend today. I took my son and we were there for over an hour. When we were leaving my son told Hannah ‘I want to come back again!’” —Rebecca Zakem —•—

Home Delivered Meals In-service Volunteers from our Home Delivered Meals department recently attended an afternoon of education and socialization. Topics included What is a Kosher Kitchen and The Role of the Mashgiach led by Rabbi Aaron Musat, a discussion with CJE Board Member Alan Greene on Socialization and WellBeing and a brief discussion about Compliance with Nancy Harris, Director of Corporate Compliance and Risk Management. Thank you to Magdalyn Guzzo, Home Delivered Meals Manager and Christina Macaraeg, Home Delivered Meals Support Specialist, for their role in organizing this informative afternoon. If you have a suggestion for a topic you would like covered at our next volunteer in-service, please let us know.

Thank you to all of our wonderful friendly callers and visitors who have been a part of Project Connect. We are always interested in matching more volunteers with older adults who are feeling a sense of loneliness and isolation. If you would like to refer anyone 55+ who could benefit from having a friend who calls on a regular basis, please contact Barbara Milsk at 773.508.1169 or Barbara.Milsk@cje.net. —•—

Do you know others who might want to join you and become part of the CJE volunteer team? We are always interested in welcoming new volunteers.
