WHAT’S HAPPENING AT WEINBERG COMMUNITY By Jennifer Weininger, Executive Director
November 2019
Dear Residents and Families:
I want to take a moment to simply say Thank You. Thank you for trusting me and my staff to care for you or your loved ones each day. Thank you for creating wonderful experiences and memories for me and my staff and teaching us about aging gracefully. Thank you for your support and partnership! Have a wonderful and Healthy Thanksgiving whether you are celebrating with us at our community or with your family outside of Weinberg. —Jennifer Weininger We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation during the flu outbreak.
Here are some ways we can work together to promote health and reduce illness. • Get vaccinated. Vaccination is the first step to flu prevention. Yearly flu vaccination is needed because immunity against the flu wears off over time. Most of our residents and staff have received this at our building or their own provider this season. • Wash your hands. Cold and flu viruses may be spread by indirect contact. Maybe someone sneezes onto their hand and then touches a doorknob, only to have the virus picked up by the next person who also touches it. Washing your hands is the best way to prevent getting sick. • Disinfect common surfaces. Viruses that cause colds and flu can survive on common surfaces for up to 72 hours. Don’t forget to disinfect phone receivers, doorknobs, light switches, and remote controls. 1
