The following vehicle classes for the Virginia Festival of the Wheel 2021 best represent the vehicles widely collected by discerning owners. These fine machines appeal to car enthusiasts as well as attendees who appreciate the history, the artistry and preservation of the automobile. There can be a wide variation between vehicles within each class, but they all possess certain basic characteristics. AMERICAN PRODUCTION CAR (1946–1975)
FERRARI
Waving a ride of optimism after WWll, US auto manufacturers incorporated the jet-age design into their models and adopted rapidly improving automotive technology in the engines and drivelines.
The name speaks for itself. These exotic cars from Italy represent what many consider the pinnacle of automotive design and performance.
AMERICAN SPORTS CAR
All non-American makes of cars and years exemplifying the design, practicality, and performance of the finest offerings.
BRITISH SPORTS CAR
These two-seaters or 2+2 cars were often used in road races and featured what may be considered advanced design or engineering for their time.

Sports cars built in Great Britain were typically twopassenger vehicles that were agile and quick and focused on performance. CLASSIC AMERICAN HOT ROD
These old-school hot rod vehicles built with steel bodies had period-correct engines and authentic 1950s design and construction.
CLASSIC CAR (1942 AND EARLIER)
American and foreign production cars are often referred to as “Pre-War” cars. These vehicles dating from the 1920s to 1940 featured elegant designs and were considered the luxury vehicles of the day.

These cars were mass produced and don't have a strong significance for design or luxury.
SHELBY
These cars were primarily built or influenced by Shelby American in the 1960s and include Cobras, GT350s, GT40s, and Sunbeam Tigers.
VINTAGE RACE CAR
One- or two-seater cars were used in competition on dirt or asphalt racing between the mid-1920s and the mid-1960s.
