It is in the human nature to compare of what one possesses with each other. This attitude that we develop in our childhood continues to affect our approach and social growth in life. This comparison at times leads to a healthy competition and at others to jealousy and frustration. A few bad men here and there followed by some bumping thuds make us believe that if we do not want to suffer any more, we must follow the righteous course of positivity instead of burning ourselves in jealousy. Positive approach leads to the ultimate success, the industrialists of this area, have always rejoiced the situations we find ourselves in, even after withdrawal of concessions on 31st March 2010 and partial restoration of the same in December 2010. In whatever way we look at it, we find ourselves in the list of favorite children as compared to others who remained out of the facilities extended to us in 2003. The government on their part has always responded to our requests (demands) in a very healthy and accommodating spirit, and when we have the support of the authorities who matter, we can work with ease. Let us acknowledge with gratitude, the efforts made by one and all, to see that we are comfortable. Here is a stage where we do not have to ask as to what has the government done for us. We should be able to say as to what we are doing for the government to promote social togetherness and responsibility in the masses. Our up-bringing also teaches us to give back to society in whatever measure, to we can. There are no bindings on this account. giving out favors under pressure is not fruitful. Giving out of pleasure, even the least you can is good for the benefactor and the beneficiary. We have come across instances where our members are contributing for the benefit of the masses as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. A case in point relates to Torrent Pharmaceuticals discussed in this issue. We are also aware that similar activities are being carried out by others but are not reported. Let us now take a leaf from the Torrent and join page after page to tell others that we do not lag in fulfilling our corporate social responsibility .

INDUSTRIAL

Power Point

Infrastructure Up-gradation Scheme One of the biggest ever cleanup drives for an industrial belt at the pharma hub of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh, in Himachal Pradesh.

The project announced for us as a part of IIUS scheme of the government of India covered three aspects: n A combined waste water treatment system, a common effluent treatment plant in short called CETP. n Roads in the industrial area to be widened, uplifted, strengthened and even constructed where necessary to match with global medicine producing standards. n Providing of Skill Development centre. CETP is the predominant part of the combined project involving bulk of expenditure and before we go into it, let us speak about the involvement of funds for each of the sub-projects including

earlier issues of Disha with a promise to

highlight its contents. BBNDA along with BBNIA worked at tandem for CETP from conceptualization of the project, which is now almost at the verge of implementation. Project approval from the Govt of India in shortest period of time was a herculean task. Commendable Job done by the Officers of the State, Govt of India and BBNIA for getting the project sanctioned which has three components mentioned below. administrative and fixed assets allocations. The project could not take shape without help of the state Govt. who agreed to provide 126 bighas of land and 7 crores of capital for the project. First thing first, we owe our special thanks to the State Government. The cost of the project as a whole: The Government of India, Ministry of Commerce & Industry has conveyed their final approval under the scheme on 19 November 2010 for a project costing Rs. 80.50 crores to cover the following works: n Providing CETP Rs. 53.80 crores n Skill Development Centre Rs. 8.10 crores n Widening & Strengthening of Roads Rs.17.24 crores n Administrative expenses & Fixed Assets Rs. 1.36 crores

Pharma Industry under Threat Govt. plans to impose Entry Tax on Pharma Raw Material

T

he State Govt. in recent past has imposed Entry Tax on many items/commodities to which there was a sharp reaction from the

Industry. As per the Govt. reason of imposition of this tax is primarily to boost local industry as well as to garner some revenue

from the units indulging in Stock Transfers of their entire production thereby causing a loss to state exchequer. BBNIA had taken

up the said issue with the Hon'ble CM directly on whose directions the rates of tax on most of the items were rationalized, the entry tax was stopped to be collected at the barriers, the industry was assured to allow the input credit of the entry tax paid to be set off against payment of CST/VAT. However, except the decision of stoppage of collection of Entry Tax at the barriers rest of the decision are pending on account of imposition of code of conduct due to elections to PRI/Local Bodies. Though the effect of these relief, if notified is yet to be assessed , there is another news gaining ground that state govt. is planning to impose Entry Tax on Pharma Raw Material, which is main ingredient for the entire Pharma Industry in the state. As per the President, Himachal Drugs Manufacturers Association , Mr. Sanjay Guleria, the survival of the pharma industry will be under threat if any such move is made and as such has requested the Himachal Chief Minister not to levy any additional tax like entry tax etc., to enable the small units in the state comprising of 80 per cent of the industrial set up to survive. It will be a matter of wait & watch till the Govt. responds to the aspirations of this particular sector.

EQUIPPING TODAY’s CHILDREN 4 TOMORROW

Things You Will Not Learn in School

B

ill gates recently gave a speech at a high school about 11 things they did not teach him and you will not learn in school. He talks about how feelgood, politically correct teaching has created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept has set them up to face failure in the real world. Rule 1. Life is not fair, get used to it. Rule 2. The world doesn't care about your self esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish some thing before you feel good about yourself. Rule 3. You will not make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vicepresident with a car phone until you earn both. Rule 4. If you think your teacher is tough, wait until you get a boss. Rule 5. Flipping burgers are not beneath your dignity. Your grand parents had a different word for burger flipping: they call it opportunity. Rule 6. If you mess up, it's not your parents fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Corporate Grooming and Etiquette Sarvesh Gulati Rs. 95

Rule 7. Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So, before you save rainforests from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room. Rule 8. Your school may have done away from winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they will give you as many times as you want to give the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to anything in real life. Rule 9. Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time. Rule 10. Television is not real life. In real life people, actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs. Rule 11. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you will end up working for one.

in the year 1955. This book became so popular that its sale increased each year and now one has to perform exceptionally to find a name in this Book. The manner in which Hughes Beaver conceived of it was as below. In the year 1951, Hughes Beaver was out hunting when he saw a flock of strange birds fly over him. Try as he may, he could not correctly place the bird, nor could his friends who accompanied him. Back home, he went over a number of books to find an answer but in vain. He finally got the answer in the year 1954 i.e. almost after three years. This made Hughes think that many people can find themselves in a similar situation and would need a reference book to find their answers. It was then he met Noris and Ross who worked for a fact finding agency in London to bring out the book next year.

The book derived its name from “Guinness Breweries” where Hughes was then employed.
