e are all proud of being a part of a leading organization of entrepreneurs worldwide. In the initial years I always had difficulty in explaining what we really do at TIE. Today, being part of this journey of fostering entrepreneurship for several years, the FIVE objectives have become clear - Mentoring, Networking, Educating, Incubating and Funding. I have just returned after attending the global retreat at Tenerife, Spain which would remain a memorable experience for both me and my wife. Meeting Indian families on the flight to this remote island in Atlantic ocean was the first real energy booster. The crisp and efficient hospitality desk of TIE welcomed us at our arrival at Abama resorts. Spanish dances with laser shows over dinner, thought provoking business sessions, the Awards gala night, inspiring keynote speakers, all gave a special meaning to our visit. Being a part of the annual Global retreat, one gets the taste of the power of networking that TIE brings to its members. Each member’s contributing spirit is further enthused in the company of successful entrepreneurs from all over the world. Imagine a day full of story sharing amongst business leaders from Israel, Greece, Hong Kong, Kerala, Boston; describing their respective journeys. The Global retreat gives an incredible opportunity to the members to foster life-long friendships, besides nurturing business relationships. One truly feels inspired to further contribute to the TiE family. I am very pleased to share with you that the recently announced union budget of our country includes several initiatives to support the framework of start-up entrepreneurship. Let’s all work together to ride this new wave of opportunities. I look forward to the continued participation and enthusiasm of our members from TIE Chandigarh Family. Partap Aggarwal

HPS Lamba traces his entrepreneurial struggle to pioneering success in food processing H.P.S. Lamba had a chequered career. A Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, he joined Punjab Power Generation Machines Ltd. a company of Crompton Greaves Ltd. in 1989, and later in 1992 shifted to Mukat Pipes Ltd with his marketing expertise. However, in 1997, entrepreneurial bug, which he says was hereditary from his grandfather, bit him, and he setup his own IT education company. He saw the opportunity in an innovative concept of filling aerated water in PET bottles, which he pioneered in Northern India, followed by flavoured drinks. He ventured into experimenting with glutten-free bakery products after his daughter was found wheatallergic, and he converted this opportunity into a huge marketing success by developing over 90 products, and his idea got him the recognition from The Economic Times’ ‘The Power of Ideas’ contest. Innovation and never-say-die attitude has made him survive and succeed in the hard-core manufacturing business, he says.

eon Systems is a full service User Experience Design Company. Before setting up Beon Systems in 2012, Sunali was working as consultant with a lot of companies. Beon Systems specialises in creating high end user experiences for online and mobile products. They believe in User Centric Design, design which is easy, intuitive, engaging and useful for the users. Their ADD Process of Analysis , Design and Delivery helps companies and entrepreneurs realise their product vision. The end result could be a website, ecommerce portal, mobile application, Saas offering or any other digital solution. Sunali is a Post Graduate from National Institute of Design Ahmedabad. She also holds a Diploma in Film Making from New York Film Academy. In 2011 she did her General Management Program from IIMA. She enjoys being a full time entrepreneur and her passion is to help other entrepreneurs realise their dreams. "I started working as a consultant for User Interface Design (UID) in 2005 when nobody knew or talked about it. UID was not considered a specialized or an independent domain. Wherever I went, I spent a considerable time in teaching the clients about the relevance and importance of a good UI. It was a hard sell but eventually it all worked out. Now, companies and entrepreneurs are definitely more informed and they know what to ask for when they come to us”, she says. “We work with a lot of product companies where they are striving to simplify their online processes, and though they look for simplification than beautification, but we combine the functionality and visual appeal as our core service,” she adds. Beon Systems works with many startups. Sunali feels that most of the startups start with numerous elements whereas we suggest them to focus on just four or five critical ones in order to validate the idea in the market place. "Less is More is the Mantra we follow and preach," she says. Beon is growing at 50% every year but in this financial year intends to have 100% growth. Starting with three people in its team, it is 12 and by the end of current year, shall be 25. “We invite entrepreneurs to discuss their ideas with us and experience how we ADD value,” says Sunali.
