The Warehouse monitoring tool help to get dash boards in the form of cockpits. Target Audience: This book intends to provide knowledge, information and orientation material for 1. Project leads 2. Consultants 3. Project team members 4. Business analysts 5. Business users Following activities are catered in this book. The content of this book will help in EWM implementations and in solving problems that are encountered in current business environment's processes. This helps decision makers to decide which process needs to be adopted in SAP EWM space for the required warehouse processes. Standard configuration objects along with detailed business process flows are incorporated in this book. Customized info graphics help readers to imagine realistic warehouse operations. Vendor and customers are Business Partners and differentiated with ID types. 12.1

Vendor and customer integration with SCM EWM

Vendors and Customers are both mapped as business partners in EWM with different ID types. ID Type CRM002 is for customer and CRM004 is for vendor. Logical system represents responsible institution from which system BP is distributed under identification tab. Business Requirement: if vendor masters and customers are with unique names, to handle this, one standard enhancement is available in EWM. Unique product numbers from different ERP systems (SCM EWM)

In SAP EWM, standard enhancements are available to handle unique product numbers from different systems. In EWM, product is identified with external product numbers along with business system group. If we activate the enhancement product master it is to be saved like product number @BSG number. SCM EXTENDED WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT

21. Warehouse Order Warehouse order represents an executable work package that a resource (warehouse employee) should perform at a specific time. The warehouse order consists of warehouse tasks or physical inventory items, when products are received, issued, moved or counted warehouse tasks are created. The warehouse tasks are grouped together into warehouse orders and available for processing. For example, in the goods receiving process, warehouse tasks are created to move the products into the warehouse and to their destination storage bin. Warehouse tasks grouped together according to warehouse order creation rule (WOCR). A queue will be determined at the time of WT creation and flows in to warehouse order at header level, then it assign to resources of permissible resource groups. Each resource assign to user id and it update at field ‘processor’ if confirm at RF environment. Each warehouse task represents with its unique number at warehouse level, since number ranges maintained at warehouse level. 21.1

21.2

Warehouse Order Creation rule

Warehouse order creation rules use to group warehouse tasks together into warehouse orders, to create optimum work packages. WOCR determine with reference to several control parameters as below.  Sort Rules for Warehouse Tasks  Filters for Warehouse Order Creation Rules

C.K. REDDY

212

SCM EXTENDED WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT  Limit Values for the Size of a Warehouse Order  Packing Profile for Warehouse Order Creation

21.2.1

Sort Rules for Warehouse Tasks

Warehouse tasks undergo a grouping according to their Activity Areas. The reason behind this is that the WOCRs are picked depending the Activity Code in the Warehouse Process Type or the corresponding Activity Area. This group of warehouse tasks sort with reference to defined sort rules to create a warehouse order. Sort rules work at different phases of warehouse order building.  Sorting all WTs at the beginning of WO creation  Sorting all WTs that are part of a warehouse order, at the end of warehouse order creation  Sorting all WTs during packing for determination of pick- handling units Sort rules define in below path. Spro-Img- SCM Extended Warehouse Management- Extended Warehouse Management- CrossProcess Settings- Warehouse Order- Define Sort Rules for Warehouse Tasks

C.K. REDDY

213

SCM EXTENDED WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT

Several standard sort fields are available to maintain sort rules.

It is possible to use up to maximum 30 sort fields in sequence for each sort rule. 21.2.2

Filters for Warehouse Order Creation Rules

Filters use to remove specific WTs which are selected by sorting in the groups. This filtering applied at item level as well as at sub-total levels. Filters define with reference to warehouse task ‘or’ physical inventory in below path. Sub-total filter can’t influence anything for physical inventory, since there are no filter criteria applicable. Spro-Img- SCM Extended Warehouse Management- Extended Warehouse Management- CrossProcess Settings- Warehouse Order- Define Filters for Warehouse Order Creation Rules Item filter:

C.K. REDDY

214

SCM EXTENDED WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT It is possible to forbid the item filter in creation of warehouse orders for process relevant warehouse tasks like putway, stock removal, internal stock transfers and physical inventory. Subtotal Filter

No forbidden filter criteria exist for subtotal filters. 21.2.3

Limit Values for the Size of a Warehouse Order

Limit values define the size of a warehouse order,it means restrict the number of items in the warehouse order. Warehouse order creation first checks the values for the maximum limits. It adds up the relevant values across the warehouse tasks (WTs) for a warehouse order. Once maximum value exceeds the defined limit, warehouse order creation completes the current warehouse order with all WTs processed for it so far, and creates other warehouse order for the remaining WTs. Limit values define in below path. 21.2.4

Packing Profile for Warehouse Order Creation

Packaging profile enables to control how warehouse order creation determines pick-handling units for a warehouse order. The system uses the data from the warehouse tasks (WTs) of a warehouse order (such as weight, volume, or dimensions) in order to perform this determination. Pack profile compares the data with the possible packaging materials, and determines the number and category of the required pick-handling units. There are three modes available for determining the pick-handling units as Simple algorithm, Complex algorithm and BAdI. For simple and complex algorithms , packaging specifications are mandatory with desired packaging materials. Packaging profile defined in the below path. Define Creation Rule for Warehouse Orders

Warehouse order creation uses these rules to group warehouse tasks together into warehouse orders, in order to create optimum work packages. Spro-Img- SCM Extended Warehouse Management- Extended Warehouse Management- CrossProcess Settings- Warehouse Order- Define Creation Rule for Warehouse Orders

Destination storage type, destination storage section, and destination storage bin specify the work center to which the WTs, has been grouped using the current warehouse order creation rule. Storage process represents the sequential exeternal steps which are to be executed with this rule. Determine workcenter indicator specifying that a work center should be determined for warehouse orders constructed using this warehouse order creation rule.

SCM EXTENDED WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT WO locked indicator controls to create WO with the status ‘locked’ ,enables to view the result before processing. Cartonization Planning Compatibility is to plan desired ship HUs during the warehouse order processing with this rule and overrule the value of the ‘limits’. 21.2.6

Define Search Sequence of Creation Rules for Activity Areas

In this step, assign one or more warehouse order creation rules to each defined activity area. These rules are processed during warehouse order creation for each activity area, according to the sequence defined. Spro-Img- SCM Extended Warehouse Management- Extended Warehouse Management- CrossProcess Settings- Warehouse Order- Define Search Sequence of Creation Rules for Activity Areas

During the WT creation, system determines the Activity Area Indicator for warehouse order creation rule search from desired warehouse process type.

22. Putaway strategies and stock removal strategies In EWM, source and destination storage bins are required and these are determined using putaway strategies and stock removal strategies during WT creation. Goods receipts: The system uses putaway strategies and control parameters defined in the product master to utilize the available warehouse capacity by automatically determining suitable storage bins for the receiving products, however it is possible to change the destination storage bin during warehouse task confirmation with specific exception codes.

YARD represent an enclosed area outside of warehouse where vehicles and transportation units are check-in/check-out, park and assign warehouse doors for load/unload activities. yard management provides below advantages. 

Track, control and optimize the movement of TUs/vehicles.

Manage the use of receiving and shipping warehouse doors and parking locations.

provides real-time information on the location of TU/vehicle in the yard and allows yard employees to move from staging to docks to fill orders in an efficient manner.

YARD is a storage type with the role ‘yard’ in a warehouse, and possible to share the same yard by multiple warehouses. It is also possible to configure separate warehouse for yard. The use of Yard management is optional in EWM, if required yard management should be activated at warehouse level. 60.1
