2. Ensure the flexible electrical cord is inspected regularly in accordance with recommendations of AS3760 (In service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment).

3. Ensure correct size cable, plug/socket and circuit protection are used.

4. The use of residual current device is recommended.

5. Always ensure the correct direction of rotation for the cutting of wheel.

6. Ensure handle is securely fitted to machine prior to use.

7. Ensure machine is not used in hazardous areas.

8. Ensure machine is used on a flat and stable surface.

9. Have adequate workspace and lighting around the machine.

10. Ensure work space is clean and dry (good housekeeping).

14. Do not operate the machine whilst under the influence of drugs, alcohol or any medication

15. Remove adjusting keys/spanners by forming a habit of checking to see that keys and spanners etc are removed from the machine before switching it on.

16. Inspect the cutting off wheel prior to use. Check for any signs of damage and replace the wheel if required.

17. Make sure the cutting off wheel specification is designed for cutting the material type to be cut.

18. Check that machine wheel flanges are flat and clean when replacing the cutting off wheel.

19. Ensure the cutting off wheel is mounted correctly, including the fitting of blotters.

20. Never exceed the maximum operating speed of the cutting off wheel.

21. Never leave the machine unattended whilst it is switched on Turn the power off, do not leave the machine until comes to a complete stop.

22. Always allow the cutting off wheel to do the work – Do not force the wheel through the workpiece.

23. Disconnect power supply before replacing cutting off wheel or undertaking any other maintenance on the machine.

24. Regardless of your operation, if stock extends more than 400mm from the base, use extra support on both sides with stands the height of which keep the stock level on the base.

25. Ensure pulleys are in line after tensioning or replacing the Vee belts.

26. Always use Flexovit replacement parts.

27. Consult an authorised Flexovit Distributor in the event of machine failure.

28. Always return the Warranty Card to Saint- Gobain.

VOLTAGE WARNING

Before connecting the machine to a power source, (receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure the voltage supplied is the same that specified on the nameplate of the tool (i.e.380-415v).Never try to plug a 380-415v tool into a 240v outlet, other way around. The plug and outlet have completely different shapes. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician. Using a power source with voltage less than the nameplate rating (380-415v) is harmful to the motor.

UNPACKING

UNPACKING

The cut-off saw comes almost completely assembled, the handle

There is a threaded bar that locks the blade down during shipping .The nut securing this bar is located underneath the power switch box. Remove nut and then remove bar. You may wish to retain this hardware for long term storage or transportation.

ASSEMBLY

VICE:

The vice handle comes in the reversed position to protect it during shipment. Unscrew handle, then screw it on the reverse side.

Bench Mounting:

There are four holes used to mount the machine to a bench .you must supply the hardware for mounting. purchase bolts with sufficient length and width as the machine will vibrate during use. The most consider concerning the bench is weight capacity and stability. The weight of the machine specifications). Make sure any stand you wish to use has a rated weight capacity well above the weight of the machine. Always make sure the stand is on a level surface. Bolt the machine to the bench using washers, lock washers, and nuts.

Handle:

The receiver for the handle is located next to the power switch. Loosen the locking nut and the bolt until you have enough clearance to insert the handle. Insert handle then tighten bolt and the locking nut. Do not use any other handle other than the one included with the tool .Never use an extension bar on the handle in order to obtain more force. This will void your warranty and possibly damage the machine.

Cutting wheel:

To gain access to the spindle nut and flanges, loosen both knobs on the wheel cover located on the right hand side of the machine.

Over the shaft for the cutting wheel is a button that must be pressed in order to engage a shaft lock to permit the spindle nut that secures the cutting wheel flanges to be loosened, hold this down while removing arbor nut. Remove outer flange and put wheel on. Put outer flange back on and tighten arbor nut securely (while holding onto button).Make sure blade is on evenly. Run for several minutes before using, looking for any imbalance or excessive vibration of the cutting wheel.

Chain lock down:

This is a simple chain-and-hook device used to hold the cutting wheel down during transportation and when not in use. It is affixed to the base, and the hook is located on the left underside of the wheel next to the inner flange. machine with chain hooked attached. Never attempt to hook or unhook chain unless machine is unplugged and has not been used for 3 to 5 minutes (to allow wheel to cool down)

For long term storage and /or long distance transportation, use the locking bar that was included for shipping purposes (see "Unpacking", second paragraph).

Vice:

Whenever you are using the machine, it is always advisable to use the vice for both precision and safety. To use the vice to hold the workpiece, simply screw vice handle until the jaws have secured the workpiece. For accurate angle cuts, you must use the vice. The back vice assembly has a protractor scale on it for this purpose. Loosen both pieces loosening each center bolt a little. Align back vice according to the scale and tighten down without disturbing the setting. Put stock on base and tighten vice. Do not clamp down until the front part of vice has aligned itself. When it has, tighten the bolt down without disturbing the setting. Now tighten vice the rest of the way.

MAINTENANCE

NOTE:

Do not do any maintenance unless the machine is unplugged and has not been run for at least 3 to 5 minutes.

Lubrication:

There are two oil points located on top of the arms beneath the motor .Their "caps" slide easily to the side holes .Put a couple of drops of #20 machine oil into each hole before and after every operation. If the action becomes rough, apply a small amount of automotive grease to the screw and slides.

Belt Tension:

Warning! Never over tighten the belt or damage to the machine will result! Tighten by small amounts and test tightening further! Always wear goggles when testing belt!

The motor is mounted to the machine body with 4 bolts. Loosen these bolts so that they are still snug, but motor could move if given sufficient force.

Adjustment is controlled by the two bolts that are parallel to the base. There is one to the front (closer to the wheel) and one on the other side in the back. To adjust the motor first loosen the back bolt 1/2 a turn and then tighten the front one 1/2 a turn. Always adjust both bolts in small, equal amounts at a time. You should never turn bolts more than 1-1/2 to2 turns before reassembling and testing (see warning above).

Tighten the four mounting bolts and replace belt housing. Operate without wheel for at least five minutes to ensure that the drive pulley is straight and aligned.

Cleaning:

Machines and motor will require occasional cleaning. After a long period of use, clean out motor vents, pulleys, vice, vice screw, and base.

To clean motor vents, use an air compressor with regulator set at about 15 psi to gently blow out dust particles.

Clean pulleys, base, vice, and vice screw with a non-flammable solvent, always procedures.
