FROM WASTE TO PRODUCTION VIA bIOMASS FERMENTATION: THIS IS THE VIRTUOUS CIRCLE OF SUSTAINAbILITY. GENERATING CLEAN ENERGY. Turning biogas into energy and recovering waste materials: this is where we’re the real experts. All the companies that choose to produce energy through cogeneration optimise their energy efficiency, making it sustainable. The advanTages? The advantages are huge. The main ones include: • the use of by-products and waste from livestock and farming activities; • reduction of problems caused by storage and disposal of this waste; • the potential for planting energy crops in place of crops that are relatively unprofitable but already planned; • the potential for the use and sale of the end waste of digestate as a soil conditioner for fertilisers. The resulT. The production of energy with a conscious, sustainable use of materials, while respecting the environment.
Biogreen manufacTures: • biogas cogeneration plants; • biomethane plants; • biogas landfill plants ; • nitrogen reduction and recovery systems; • organic MSW treatment plants; • urban waste treatment plants; • photovoltaic systems; • production facilities for energy from woody biomass; • energy from manure and agro-industrial waste; • ELT processing.

BIOGAS. Biogas consists mainly of methane and carbon dioxide and is the result of a complex process of anaerobic digestion: a special microbial fibre transforms the organic substance in an oxygenfree environment. The percentage of methane varies according to the type of organic substance used and the process conditions. In most cases, biogas is made from waste materials, animal waste and plant biomass with low lignin content.
The biogas is subjected to desulphurisation, cooling and drying before being transformed into heat and electricity. The transformation process involves biochemical decomposition, with strains of bacteria that decompose the organic material, producing biogas. The electricity generated is transformed into medium-voltage energy and then sold to the grid. Transforming waste into energy is not just a great victory for innovation: for it is also a conscious decision and a step that needs to be made for the good of the planet.
13
BIOMETHANE. Biomethane is a biogas that, after appropriate chemical and physical processing, complies with the standards set by the authorities, particularly with regard to quality, odorisation and gas pressure, which are necessary before it is put into the natural-gas grid, for use in the powered vehicles market and in high-efficiency cogeneration plants. The recent decree issued by the Ministry of Economic Development on 5 December 2013 provides incentives for the production of biomethane. Biogreen is a general contractor for turn-key anaerobic digestion plants for the production of biomethane.
14
LANDFILL BIOGAS. Landfills are major producers of spontaneously formed biogas. A process of anaerobic digestion leads to fermentation, from which energy is produced. Biogreen creates energy recovery systems capable of capturing the biogas produced by anaerobic degradation of the organic content. Once it has been extracted from the waste, the biogas is fed into high-temperature combustion cham-
bers with a system of energy recovery to produce electricity and heat. The cogeneration plant is modular and each module is placed in an individual container. Biogas produced from the landfill by the fermentation of organic waste is extracted through the collection system and fed into the energy-recovery system. From municipal waste to electricity and heat: that’s how we create clean energy.
15
NITROGEN REDUCTION AND RECOVERY SYSTEMS. High concentrations of livestock and agro-industrial activities lead to considerable quantities of pollutants entering water resources. In order to ensure the quality of water destined for human consumption, the European Community and national legislations have imposed limits on the concentration of nitrates in farm soils. Biogreen provides equipment for reducing nitrogen levels downstream from anaerobic diges-
tions systems. In these plants, ammonia nitrogen is reduced to nitrogen gas and released into the atmosphere, or recovered by conversion into organic fertilizer.

Organic MSW treatment.
TREATMENT OF MUNICIPAL WASTE.
Municipal solid waste varies considerably, and only a small part of it is recycled. It includes a moist portion, known as organic MSW, which has a high level of fermentability, making it suitable for biological processing techniques. The only technique that makes it possible to recover energy by means of biogas production is anaerobic digestion.
Recovering waste is very important for the environment. Treating waste produces energy and, especially, avoids the use of incinerators, with their harmful emissions.
Biogreen offers the market two installations, which differ according to the final destination of the digestate: • spreading for agricultural purposes, in which sterilisation precedes digestion; • obtaining compost (digestion without sterilisation). Biogas produced from organic MSW benefits from government incentives provided for by the Italian Legislative Decree of 6 July 2012.
Municipal waste management is a complex process that requires careful, expert assessment of the economic and environmental factors involved, to ensure the success of the process from separate waste collection to final disposal. Biogreen examines every possible option and alternative from all the various systems of sorted and unsorted waste collection, processing and final disposal, in full compliance with current regulations.
18
PHOTOVOLTAIC. Transforming solar energy into clean energy using photovoltaic technology not only helps the environment but is also a truly viable investment for optimising costs and reducing waste. Over the years, Biogreen has built up extensive experience in the construction of photovoltaic systems, which it is now making available to its customers.

PRODUCTION FACILITIES FOR ENERGY FROM WOODY BIOMASS. Producing electricity from biomass, such as wood chips and waste from the maintenance of forests and urban green areas, is the best choice for generating energy from woody biomass. Biogreen provides turn-key solutions for the construction of combustion plants and for the production of electricity or heat from woody biomass, even with high levels of humidity. The technologies employed ensure excellent conversion efficiency, fully respecting limits on emissions into the atmosphere.
20
ENERGY FROM MANURE AND AGRO-INDUSTRIAL WASTE. Using a fluidised bed boiler, the biomass - even when it has high moisture content, of up to 70% - can be used to produce thermal energy or electricity, by means of an ORC turbine. This opens up a whole new frontier in the world of renewable energy and respect for the environment.
21
22
ELT processing.
23
TYRES. ELT processing. Disposing of ELTs is a complex process. At the same time, non-disposal contributes to increasingly unsustainable damage to the environment. Biogreen now uses a technology that allows this problem to be overcome: its innovative ELT processing systems transform this waste into a raw material, ready to be used once again in the production chain. The plants treat any type of tyre, from the smallest to the biggest (loaders, excavators, etc.). This waste is transformed into rubber granules of very high purity, which can be used in a number of applications: sports surfaces, shockproof flooring, sound insulation, road foundations, vibration dampers for trains and metro lines, and for road and street furniture.
24
A great partner for the environment. Biogreen always respects the environment: these systems are made with the latest water-jet technology, which has extremely low impact on the environment while offering an extremely high level of purity of the materials recovered.
and quantities of material to be processed, thus optimising investments and the work already carried out.
This technology also makes it possible to process truck and oversized tyres in one go, leaving the steel intact and, at the same time, obtaining a high percentage of devulcanised granules and powder.
The potential of this plant is enormous: the technology it uses at last makes it possible to eliminate the problem of disposing of ELTs permanently, without endangering the environment and, especially, extracting material that can be reused to create energy.
The installation is modular, meaning that the plants can be installed bit by bit, to suit the needs
Biogreen works as a strategic partner for potential investors.
