T he Hotel encourages locals to leave their bicy cle in safe environments, which also contributes to lesser t raf fic in the sur rounding areas. My re sponsibility in this project has involved pre paring and packaging facade badged for product ion. T his initially meant adjusting facade patter n to each facade element, ensuring a coherent meet with another badge neighbour. Here I also advised in 3d modelling for rounded and asymmetrical badges. Toget her with Maiken Seg lem and Hallst ein Guthu, I consulted in facade appearances and metal tone and coloration. My daily routines within this project also meant updat ing most recent drawing set s and schemat ic drawings. Finally, myself and colleague L ine Myrenget will inspect facade prototypes, and document any f law or miscalculated badge combinations. 011

Y g g d r a sil I n th e vertical axes, we find a cosm o l o g y, which is re presented as « T h e tree of life «, Yg gdrasil. T he tree d em o n strates that the cosmic univer s h a s a so rt of center. T he tree stem fo r m s a fix point, which both com b i n es a nd constrains t he world above, th e ea r th and the world under. O ne m i g h t b elieve that this thinking draws str i n g s to what we call an ecosystem. U rd s So urce I t i s b el ieved that « T he tree of L ife» stretch es down into the underworld. Bifrost A magic bridge ex ists b etween the gods and the humans. T his s aid , it is thought to be impossible for hu m ans to find this passage into the other roam. O nly gods may travel throu gh Bifrost between Asg ård a nd M id g ård . A new world T hen - a new presence bas ed on other laws of nature is established . A you ng god, and a new human c om mu nity who know no deceit, shall overtak e the cosmic univer se, and a new world tree shall lay its seed. A closer study T he tales and beliefs a b ove give a fundamental under stand ing of ou r proposal for the new Viking A ge M useum in O slo. I t teaches u s how we can communicate and u nd er s tand tridimensional Nor se belief s throu gh an architectural language. U nd erstanding our architecture lik ew is e transcends and conver ses the forc es of nature in Nor se myt ho log y. Im p ortant is to appreciate how this p rop os al is composed from mys tic elem ents from Nor se times and bu ilt on tales from the creation of Norwegian. T he architecture describes this world view, remembering and rec ogniz ing laws of nature, its sur rou nd ings and chaos. T his entails not f earing cha os, but seeking to g rasp ones c os m ic sur roundings. W hat are we building? True to the laws of cosmic ord er, we plant our Viking Age mus eu m p rop os al” T he tree of life “in Yg gd ras il. It lies in the backg round of the exis t ing Viking museum, where is g row s from Urds Source. T he tree c row n, a wooden perforated stru c tu re, s u rrounds Midg ård, protects, and hou s es Åsg ård. Travelling between Nor s e worlds, one is initially lead throu gh the magic bridge of Bifros t, into the inner circle of Åsg ård. In this inner holy circle, the ships are p rotec ted , safe from ex ter nal climatic and vari ous danger s.

he location of L æsø is the site for th e following project. T his Project en ta ils using methods and mechanics, wh i ch translates into a new contex t. An i n terest within the field of light and all o f i ts aspects, was init ially the catalyst fo r this project. T h e ter m Camera O bscura is in many w ays a well-known phenomena. For me, c reating a Camera O bscura brought mu ch more than predicted. T his p ro j ect investig ates the dimensions of th e Camera O bscura. I t challenges b o u ndaries between metaphysical a sp ects and the converted images. An i n terest lies in discovering aspects which a re de picted through a lens. A world wh i ch lies outside the horizon of the h u m a n eye. O ne we simply can not see. T h e investig ation tries to bring these h i d d en dimensions, clos er to the human aw a reness. O ften these images are d e p i c ted through a hand-held Camera Ob sc ura, where the Camera O bscura i s c ontrolled by the movement of the h u m a n hand. T h e interest lies in doing the opposite. H ere the human body is controlled by th e Camera O bscura itself. T his ideally m ea ns, discovering in which manor the b o dy relates to spaces.

Common denominator s are ver y important. By ex ample, I f, however, we wanted an 11 : 127 gear ra tio, the only way to get that ex act ratio would be with an 11 t ooth and a 127 tooth gear (or multiples thereof), because both are prime number s that can’t be factored. O n further consideration of the above 1:11 gearing ex ample, we could have done even better if we instead started with 1:11 as 12:132. We could then write this as 12:44 and 44:132, and the 44:132 is a 1:3 ratio, which we could also make a 10:30. T hat would leave us with 12:44 and 10:30, which adds up to just 96 teeth .

How much it cost to leave a bicycle in there? A monthly subscription includes free acces s day and night, 7 days a week. Using an A pp. on your smart phone, you will be given access to the bicycle hotel and payment methods. T he hotel is monitored allowing a safe and clean hotel for the bikes. T his is an important aspect of the bike parking ex perience. D o you think it is more interesting to rebuild old buildings than making new ones? T his seems to be a project-specific issue. Both are interesting, but the outcome de pends g reatly on numerous aspects, that are not always easy to predict. O ften we review project budget, the sur rounding contex t and building state condition. I f the project does not invite for the reuse of ex isting materials, it is wise to build with new. Nevertheless, we do always seek potentials in ex isting materials, tr ying to actively recycle and incor porate them in the future building. Gladly, by maintaining the old construction in Gulskogen, we were able to discover old receipts from 1868, remaining fully intact. T hese are now ex hibited at Jer nbanemuseet (Train museum) in Hamar, Norway. 019

T his book wishes to translate a study which manifests the process from an digital standpoint, into 1:1 fabrication, moulding and construction. Using R hino Advanced as the main digital design-tool, allows us to create advanced structures, and definitive assembling methods. R hi no Advanced sees R hino as a creating tool, which through combinations of in tuitive modelling and parametric definitions for ms a virtual space for architec tural development. I nitially cells are drawn based on the T-spline cage mesh. T he outer and in ner cell s keleton then for ms a unity of the cell cage. T his essent ially leads to an entire cell skeleton, which is project ed upon the master surface of the cage mesh. Using g rasshopper as the support ing design tool, allows us to create intermediate cells. T he Hypar nimps can now begin to take for m. O nce g rasshopper becomes an ess ential part in constructing the Hypar nimps, going from cell struc tures, to a closed and filled mesh. Further more Grasshopper allows in dividual fillets between seams of the Hypar nimps parts, to be adjusted, simply by changing the slider s. Great notice and time then lies in the process of trimming and adjusting additional superf luous areas of the mesh. Continuous trials were spent on this area, which is in definite relation of the Hypar nimps outcome.

to Tokyo and Kyoto has in g reat dea l en hanced and increased our interest within t he Japanese culture. To convey architectu ral Japanese qualities such as the blur of room divisions, transparency of spaces, and the shutter-like structures we receive a main fo cus in constructing our proposal. Main ly we talk of a functional layer structure which in detail, is shared by a common stairc as e. T hes e are translated into our so called Tow er s. Mainly, one moves up through layer s, ex periencing an increase of stay. Ar riving at T he Market has in g reat d eal been inf luenced by the wanting of a se p a ration of the pedestrian ar rival and the ve hicle ar rival, but still using the As Fou nd aspects of the site. We have therefore m ain tained the original ramp and its dimens ions, constructing the pedestrian ramp which is similar in its ex pression. D iscussions of the location of the ramp arise. As we treas u re a stor y of a long sing le decent and on e has to move down to come up. We question, if this is a realistic way of creating an ar rival, without it s eeming out of place and plainly annoying for its user s. T his can be discussed endlessly. T he im portance lies in its tale of luring peop le through the timely aspect of the mark et place. For further work , additional desc ents that lead directly to the market area m ight seem more appropriate. H owever it is necessar y to implement a h i g her deg ree of recognisability in our m o d els in order for them to have a clearer reference to the chosen movies. We i n tend to make the models more self-ex p l a i ning and decrease the need of verbal ex p lanation. I n continuation of giving o u r model a more refined and defined ex p ression we chose to work with only one sc ene from T he 12 Monkeys as the back d ro p and base for our model and then the i n tention is to add on atmospheres from th e other movies as more intangible elem ents e.g. by the use of smoke and dif feren t light settings.

A f ter having ex amined and ref lected on o u r study models, taken pictures of them w i th various light sources, from favoura bl e ang les and discussing the outcome, we ex perience that the atmosphere creat ed i n some of the pictures were usable for o u r further work.
