TRAVEL SKETCHES EUROPE PROGRAM 2014
[ SACRED SPACES ] In each city I was captivated by the prevalent religious architecture. These sacred spaces hold great meaning for their many visitors. From the elaborate cathedral to the unadorned chapel on a hillside, I wanted to discover how architectural elements embody the greater significance of the structure itself.

[ STRUCTURE + SKIN ] The primary function of the building envelope is to protect the interior from the outside elements. In most cases, the envelope does not provide the primary support to the building. The following sketches explore the primary structural system, the building skin, and how the two interact.
