STRAND LAMPS by CLANCY MOORE When we design at Clancy Moore we speak often about creating a sense of character. In designing the strand lamps we were determined to make something which was robust and beautiful. The Strand lamps balance design and craft skills in an animated yet reposeful form, which acts to enhance, but not dominate the spaces within which it sits by day or night. The profile of the lamp takes its shape from the contemplative figures in William Orpen’s painting The Holy Well. Its inclined cowl, in hand-spun copper is clasped by a single strand of brass.

OUR MAKERS Our craftspeople are from a family workshop that has been in operation since the late 19th century. Based in Northern Ireland their heritage includes a strong relationship with the industrial heritage of Northern Ireland, including the great ship works of Belfast. Through their tradition they marry the culture of craft metalwork and marry it to contemporary technologies to ensure the very highest quality of manufacture. Each lamp carries the individual marks that go into its making, whether in the cowl, hand-spun, or in the burnishing and shaping of the brass support. Designed in Dublin, and made in Portadown.
