Chilton County Chamber of Commerce From the Director...
We are just around the corner from 2014 so it’s time to begin the campaign for the annual Chamber Directory & Buyer’s Guide. This publication is filled with information about our county and the chamber’s members. For the first time ever, the directory will be in full color and we’re confident this will give the publication a new, fresh, professional look.
The ad schedule is enclosed and we hope you will consider investing in your business and in your chamber. Remember, the directory is widely distributed to all chamber members, new businesses, new residents and the general public.

Chamber Happenings Make Chamber Events Work for YOU!! How do you benefit from a Chamber event? If you have trouble answering that question, you are most likely not alone. Many people come to the events, but it seems that only a few actually use them as a valuable networking opportunity. Well, they really are valuable! Think about it. If you are a printing company and you strike up a conversation at a luncheon with a restaurant owner who needs menus printed, you may land a lucrative account. What’s more, if that restaurant owner has a friend who has printing needs, you probably have an edge with another potential customer. Now, that’s what networking is all about. So the next time you decide to attend a Chamber event, bring along a set of business cards and prepare yourself to interact with fellow members. It just may lead to new business opportunities.

five Questions.
Senior Connection Vanessa Mckinney
A: Senior Connection started 18 years ago at the hospital. The program was cut 2 1/2 years ago. Since then we moved into the rec building at Clanton City Park. Since the move we have grown to 150 regulars and could grow more once we have the space.
A: I’ve always had a heart for senior citizens. Senior citizens laid the ground work for us and gave us our start. I think we should repay them every chance we get.
A: After the program left the hospital, it became our goal to be a part of parks and recreation. The Mayor and City Council generously offered for us to use the rec facility three times a week. We appreciate this wonderful partnership.
A: Always on the move! We take trips throughout the county to learn more about Chilton County history. Once a quarter we take a day trip to a surrounding state. We have also attended the Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores. We also have 3 certified instructors through the Arthritis Foundation. Other activities include Tia Chi, line dancing, crafts, games, exercises, health education and most importantly socialization.
A: The City of Clanton has generously donated a space in the Park Plaza shopping center for Senior Connection. I see a big future for Senior Connection and for the City. The new space will allow us to provide all we have to offer to more seniors in Chilton County. This opens doors and allows us start fresh with a blank slate.
Senior Connection Meets Monday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings at 9am at the Clanton Recreation Center at the City Park (205) 755-9032
