Chilton County Chamber of Commerce From the Director... As we move into the fall season, it’s time to think about holiday shopping. Please don’t forget to think “Shop Local” first for your holiday gatherings and gifts. This effort can really make a difference to each Chilton County family as we plow those tax dollars back into our respective communities. It’s our taxes that help make this a great place to live, work and play. Also, remember that our local merchants are supporters of education, civic
clubs, jobs for students and of course, the Chamber. Our goal with Shop Local is to change our buying habits and unite us as a community by combining our greatest resource: local customers and local businesses. Think about it!

MONEY-SAVING ENERGY EFFICIENCY IDEAS
MAKE YOUR HOME MORE COMFORTABLE WITH THESE ENERGY SAVING IDEAS.
For over 50 years Alabama Power’s rates have been below the national average, but there are still some easy things you can do to save money and energy, and make your home more comfortable.

Replace a dirty air filter in your furnace. They hamper airflow, making your system work harder to keep you comfortable.
Proper insulation can save you up to 30% on your heating and cooling costs. Add more insulation if you are finding cool spots around your home.
Set your thermostat to 78 degrees or above in the summer and 68 degrees or below in the winter.
Turn the temperature down on your water heater if it’s over 140 degrees. Don’t go below 120 degrees to keep bacteria from forming in the dishwasher.
Scan the code or visit AlabamaPower.com/save for more seasonal energy savings ideas.
