Chamber Networking Tips Have these items on hand when you come to network....it could make all the difference! 1. Nametag Whether the event provides one, or you bring one, make sure to wear it, and wear it on your right side...that way, when you shake hands, the other person will be eye to eye with your name tag and business info. A name tag is a nice professional approach. 2. Business Cards Never leave home without them! Use your business card to introduce yourself. Don’t be a business card collector; be a contact cultivator! The goal of any networking endeavor is to build relationships, not just to collect business cards. 3. Pen Have a pen handy and make some brief notes on the back of their card. This will help you remember them,

because a card alone often doesn’t help you remember the new contact the next day. Secondly, it’s an opportunity to make a commitment and keep it. Often in conversations we agree to do something like make an introduction or send some information, but then fail to - not because we mean to, but because we simply forget. Your stack of cards with notes becomes your to-do list the next day. 4. Working Calendar Stay organized and know your limitations of time. Keeping your calendar up to date and referring to it daily can keep you in line with goals. 5. Your ears Listen. Listen carefully to what other people are telling you. They could be your next customer. Be sure to keep your business plan and purpose in mind.
