DIY Dried Mangoes

A

nyone can definitely appreciate mangoes or even an assuming piece of dried mango fruit. It is probably one of the popular fruits enjoyed by many in the world since its sweetness and sourness are balanced well in between. As a yummy treat, it is also a rich source of antioxidants (in the form of phenols), iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Selenium and even Calcium. If there is an abundance of fresh mangoes in your house, it might be nice to spend some time in the kitchen and do your own batch of dried mangoes. Although a dried mango is always processed and manufactured through dehydration, attempting a DIY dried mango project at home is definitely worth the try. Again, if mangoes are in abundance in your household, then there is absolutely nothing to lose with this DIY fruit snack project. For a DIY dried mangoes project, of course you will need a bunch of ripe mangoes ready on your kitchen table. Cut the cheeks of the mangoes up to the seed core in the middle. That way, you will have a significant amount of mango chunks to scoop out. Put the chunks of mangoes inside a food processor and wait for it to be pureed. Once the mangoes have been pureed, spread it over a cookie sheet pan lined with wax paper. Spread the pureed mango evenly and bake it inside an oven. Lining the cookie sheet pan with wax paper allows the moisture content of the mangoes to be absorbed by the paper, which is the underlying principle of dehydrating mangoes in order to produce packs of dried mango for snacking. If you want a DIY dried mangoes project alternative, you can go for a more traditionally-tested recipe. For this other DIY option, you will need pureed mangoes as well but you will need to add a few teaspoons of salt. Mix the mango puree with salt over low heat, and then once it has cooled down; place 2 tablespoons-full of the mixture on a plastic. It is best that you have several small plastic squares on top of a table while you do this. Spread the 2 tablespoons of mango and salt mixture, and then dry all of them under the sun for about 4 hours. Once you see that the mixture has somehow hardened itself and that it has turned slightly brown, and then you take it inside your house to cool it down altogether. It will look more like candied mangoes but can be as enjoyable and satisfying as dried mangoes. If you do not have the time to make your dried mango snack
