OF MIRRORS LIGHTS AND PERSPECTIVE..

5
The cluttered and dark restaurant of Anteo Spazio cinema is transformed into a hall of illusion as percieved through a camera lens. The restaurant is made to look more spacious and airy with the use of mirrors which creates false depth and perspective. Minimalist furniture and cold colour tones such as different shades of light grey to white have been used to further lighten up the volume. AT the same time, this cold atmosphere is warmed up by accents of warm coloured LED strips pointing to the ceiling. The eyes of the visitor entering the restaurant would be naturally directed to the historical ceiling. The reflection of the ceiling on the mirror further highlights it.

THE MOVIE GALLERY.. 1 2 3 5 5
The restaurant also acts as a movie gallery taking the customers to the world of cinemas. The double heighted wall behind the bar is converted into an artwork of mirrors and videowalls. Each video wall displays an iconic movie from every decade of International Film History. The mirror wall is further highlighted with LED strip lights. This ever changing wall creates motion and life in the restaurant. The mirror wall and the bar that transforms into aMilanese aperitivo table at night s the focus of the design. The seating on the ground and mezannine floors face this lively wall and barcounter.

IMMATERIAL REFLECTION..
The mirror wall creates an illusion of window on the wall by reflecting the opposite window wall and thus brings in more light into the room. The infinite reflections casted, forms a false perpective just like seen through a lens.

RETAIL THROUGH EXPERIENCE...
The design is Inspired from the smooth edges and sinuous surfaces of Samsung gadgets and the experience of this warm space through a gallery.Client demanded a new brand character and improved customer experience .The new Samsung store and in turn the brand will be associated with Warmth,Elegance,Innovation,Sleek,Smooth and minimal.
The “Wonder Gallery “ takes the customer to the world of “internet of things” exhibited through the Samsung Hero Products.

WHERE INNOVATION MEETS EASY INSTALLATION..
The gallery is constructed with Bencore Plyben Panels with veneer cladding. This super light material can be moulded into any shape and way cheaper than wood. The pre-fabricated parts can be assembled on site and easily installed. The Accessory wall, displaying gadget accessories is also a storage unit. Each hanger can be pulled out to access a cabinet behind.
Ribs are made of Veneer cladded Bencore Plyben. Plyben made of polycarbonate honeycomb ,sandwhiched between 2 plywood panels is super light ,can be cut in any shape and be easily installed.
Four Bencore plyben panels are joined to form the rib. Electric wiring passes through the center of the ribs.
The infotainment lounge -A paradise for “tech junkies gives an insight into all the latest technologies and gadgets of Samsung. The infotainment lounge and T.V lounge are also speculated as areas where the customer can experience the product rather than just seeing and buying.
Metal rods welded on metallic plates are inserted into plyben . The metal plates are in turn bolted to floor.
The anodised aluminium display stand and 2 metal rods running through the horizontal ribs keeps the gallery sturdy in position.
THE MINIMALISTIC ELEGANCE..
The gallery , made of ribs, each of which tilted at a certain angle to form a sequence, create a fluidity. inspired from samsung products . The ribed gallery which lets in partial vision inside creates a curiosity to an onlooker which invites him into the space or the retail store. The ribs are held sturdy in position by the Aluminium gadget stand.

THE RECREATION CENTER Kottayam,Kerala,India
A PLACE OF NO IMPORTANCE...
The recreation center, occupying 18 acres of land has been conceived as a destination of daily visit for the neighborhood. Thus it is in harmony with the culture, tradition and architecture of the city rather than a monumental architecture which stands out from the rest. The partly divertedriver which can be accessed by steps, reminiscing the traditional temple pond, the highpitch tiled roof structure around a central courtyard, and other activities help people connect to the space and feel comfortable.
A dip in the river, a ride in a ferry, or an evening chit-chat are all activites that make the localites feel the essence of the space rather than be awed by the mightiness of the construction. Therefore the buildings have been designed very sensitively and sober, trying not to disturb the soul of this space.

THE LIBRARY Kottayam,Kerala,India
NATURE AS A BUILDING MATERIAL.. 1 - Entrance 2 - Stack 3 - Reading/e-library(at mezzanine) 4 - Librarian desk/locker 5 - Verandah 6 - Pond
The library which is part of the recreation center, is a structure which does not boast of any monumental quality. As it demands tranquility and concentration of mind, is positioned away from the bustle of the recreation center and near the stepped well.

Designed to merge along with the neighbourhood lifestyle architecture and nature, it has been built with locally available materials and in response to the “hot and humid climatic condition.

Thus the design is sustainable in terms of building cost and weather based energy saving strategies . The open plan of the library, light filtered in through the brick Jali, creeper plants on the wooden trellis, fishes in the shallow pond and the stepped well (inspired from the traditional Kerala architecture), all creates a sense of peace and calmness in the visitor.
