“World-Leading Research? RABBITS AND DOGS Sheffield researchers participated in a study where mesh was implanted on inflicted wounds of rabbits, who were left for up to three months with these injuries before being killed. Sheffield researchers were involved in a study based in China where over 40 young beagles (housed inside for their entire lives) were experimented on and killed. Four dogs died during the study.

DEAFENING GERBILS Gerbils are the species of choice at Sheffield for hearing research. Animals were placed in a soundproof booth and exposed to up to 110 dB of noise. 150 dB is considered enough to burst a human eardrum. Electrodes were inserted into the brain to record the results. DRILLING HOLES INTO RATS Rats had holes drilled into their leg bone and cancer cells were injected. The rats then underwent daily force-feeding to test the efficacy of a new drug on cancer pain. They were then killed.

ANIMAL CRUELTY INSIDE SHEFFIELD UNIVERSITY!

There is a dark cloud over the beautiful city of Sheffield. Over 80,000 animals a year undergo cruel experiments inside Sheffield University for research into cancer, deafness, heart disease, Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological conditions. Sheffield University uses pigs, mice, birds, rats, fish, rabbits, gerbils, and even sharks! Sheffield researchers obtained shark embryos sourced from a Manchester supplier. The animals were killed and decapitated, just to determine the characteristics of taste-buds.

Sheffield Institute of Translational Neuroscience Researchers here have developed a spastin mouse “model”, a mouse with a spastic gait and spinal cord swelling. Mice are regularly paralysed by Sheffield University to study neurodegenerative diseases.

Cruel mouse research

Mice were inflicted with major paralysis and forced to carry out tasks. Research reports toe curling, foot dragging, rigid paralysis and the animals being unable to get up Mice were injected with breast cancer and tumour cells before having their necks broken.

HELP SAVE ANIMALS INSIDE UNIVERSITIES Many more experiments like the ones above are happening in universities across the UK right now! Get involved. Join the Campus without Cruelty campaign TODAY! animaljusticeproject.com/campuswithoutcruelty campus@animaljusticeproject.com
