The Founders’ Society is an extension of Clarke’s BVM heritage and membership is reserved for alumni, parents, and friends contributing $1,000 or more to Clarke annually.

Clarke graduates who have completed their studies within the past five years are recognized as Founders’ Society members for gifts of $250 or more annually. Similarly, graduates within six to ten years are recognized for gifts of $500 or more annually.

Your annual leadership gift allows students to have a well-rounded experience both inside and outside of the classroom by supporting scholarships, premier academic programs, and enrichment activities. For more information please visit clarke.edu/founderssociety.

The Founders’ Society medallion program was underwritten thanks to the generosity of the Clarke University Board of Trustees.

Mary Benedict Hall MEDALLION

Twelveth medallion in collection

Catherine Dunn, BVM, Ph.D. MEDALLION

Sister Catherine Dunn's dedication to the students at Clarke University is nothing short of inspiring. For the last 50 years, her commitment to Clarke and to the education of the students is evident in every aspect of her work and life at the university. Sister Catherine's 75 years as a BVM demonstrates a lifelong dedication to her faith and service to the church, the community, and the students she serves.

Thirteenth medallion in collection

The daughter of Irish immigrants, Sister Catherine felt called to religious life at a young age. In 1952, she took her vows with the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and ever since has demonstrated what it means to truly live the BVM core values of freedom, education, charity, and justice. Sister Catherine served as a teacher in Illinois and Arizona until 1973, when her vocational work brought her to Clarke, and we’ve been privileged to have her with us for 50 years now. During her five decades (and counting!), Sister Catherine has held many roles, including instructor and chair of the education department, advisor, development officer, vice president for institutional advancement, and a historic 22-year term as president, where she oversaw Clarke’s resurgence after a devastating fire in 1984. She has also been a leader and volunteer throughout Iowa, including becoming the first woman to chair the Iowa Transportation Commission. Well known for her hugs, Sister Catherine remains a beloved cornerstone of our community, now and always.

Your generosity is a life-changing investment that empowers our students to pursue their dreams, overcome challenges, and realize their full potential. Thank you for being a vital part of our educational mission.
