The mission

of a lifetime B E G INS @ L C S

LAKELAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

The mission of Lakeland Christian School is to educate students in the light of God’s word to equip them for a lifetime of learning, leadership, service and worship.

About you. About them. About us. You’re about to make one of the most important decisions you can make as a parent – where to educate your child. Naturally, we’d like to be considered as one of your best options.

Other schools offer fine programs in academics, the arts, athletics. Most Christian or faith-based schools offer times and places for worship and spiritual formation. At LCS, we offer top-rated programs, too – in academics, the arts and athletics, all illuminated by the light of God’s word. But here’s the difference between LCS and options that may look similar to you: we’ve built our programs not as a means to an end – such as a stepping stone to college – but as a means to a beginning without end.

The point is, we instill in our students important foundations not only for a lifetime, but

for eternity.

When you see your child 10, 15, 20 years from now, what do you see? Perhaps a smart, successful, loving child of God. Always learning. Seizing chances to lead. Serving in small and large ways. And worshipping God with all their heart and soul and mind.

Everything we do at LCS is designed to make your vision

a reality.

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me … ” Matthew 11:29

We are first and foremost a school from the formative primary grades right through to the critical high school years.

Learning is intertwined with every activity your child will experience at LCS. Whether it’s figuring the average percentage of green M&Ms per bag, calculating the power ratio of a human mandible, running the correct pass-catching route on the football field or translating the book of John – from Latin or Greek.

The purpose of LCS learning is to educate the whole child, providing each student with a mastery of academic subjects, and instilling in every student a lifetime thirst for learning in God’s amazing world beyond the classroom.

“what could be

more important than raising

up leaders with great Christian values”? — John Maxwell, Leadership Expert and Author

Leadership lessons abound at LCS. Fifth graders routinely work with kindergarten buddies to share their “wisdom” and to form bonds that wouldn’t otherwise occur if the students were isolated from each other. Students at other levels learn to be strong, faithful leaders through public speaking, debate and discussion opportunities and, of course, by participating in our athletics programs, where LCS teams compete successfully in 19 different sports every year.

Our teachers, coaches, mentors and staff members are all involved in delivering “daily doses of Christ-shaped leadership – ones that beget confidence, character and responsibility for a lifetime.

“Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness.” 1 Chronicles 16:29

regular chapel services, student-led prayer groups, bible studies and worshipping through song are all woven into the spiritual fabric of the

LCS Experience.

The result is that students are continually inspired to live out their lives in a worshipping frame of mind. LCS families participate in their own churches – an essential component of a well-rounded Christian education. Beyond corporate worship, school personnel and parents are expected to give high priority to the personal spiritual disciplines of prayer and Bible study.

In our daily quest to

“sharpen minds and shepherd hearts” at LCS, we understand

that habits of lifetime worship cannot be learned in a house built on sand — only in one firmly built on the rock of Christ.

“Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me … ” Matthew 25:40

Inspired by the

example of Christ, and beginning with

our youngest students, bible-centered servanthood is an integral part of any student’s journey though LCS.

For example, each week members of the LCS Academic Team (A-Team) visit Troxel House, a homeless shelter and refuge for women and children. In addition to providing companionship from the outside world, these students mentor the children in reading and other subjects. It’s only one of many opportunities we offer that nurture a lifetime appreciation for service in every student, every day. In fact, LCS maintains relationships with dozens of Lakeland organizations that are always in need of students who can bring help and hope with loving hearts.

At LCS, we’ve built our programs not as a means to an end – such as a stepping stone to college – but as a means to a

beginning without end.
