“Studying abroad in Sweden allowed me to experience a culture without the filter of a screen or book. I could dive in and taste the food, talk with the locals and learn through the participation of traditions and customs. Studying abroad also allowed me to travel all across Europe. Whether it was solo traveling in Italy or cruising through the Baltic Sea to Russia, I was thoroughly humbled and grateful to have had the experience. It will be something that I never forget.” — Jacob Merritt ’21
Research with Partner Institutions

If you’re looking to dive into hands-on research in a new and exciting setting, many of our partner universities provide opportunities to perform research during the semester or the summer. Due to their highly personalized nature, these exchange experiences need to be arranged directly through the International Center. Our staff will work with you, your academic advisor and the international staff and faculty advisor at the partner institution to ensure that you are placed in a research project that aligns with your academic program.
Who Can Go:
Majors: Any student interested in performing research abroad is welcome to speak with our office about potential opportunities and options.
GPA Requirement: Determined by faculty at the partner institution.
When to Go: The junior year of undergraduate studies is typically the best time, but other years are considered.
What It Costs: Expenses are similar to — and in addition to — those of studying abroad. The cost of a research opportunity without study varies and can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
