MULTIGENERATION PARK furnishing for the park

The public park is attended by a wide range of people. Children, teens, adults and elderly have different needs and behaviour that the present products don’t satisfy. This system promote the integration of generations, sharing the same spaces and the same objects. The common language of this family of products makes the different areas, homogeneous; they are so minimal and simple that they can be understood and interpreted to all the users. Claudia Ciarpella

TURNING BENCH It´s easy to foresee in which area of the park people are going to sit: the less crowded, in empty benches, or as far as possible from unknown people. Privacy and Socializing are the key words that ispired this concept. Turning the seats of this bench, the user will decide how to behave, if sitting with his friends on the same side, or alone on the other one.

MUSHROOMS A lot of people usually spend their lunch break in public parks to rest and relax in the middle of the nature. Other people bring a blanket with them to picnic with all the family. The concept wants to combine these two customs (taking inspiration also from some oriental way of eating), creating an equipped eating area allowing people to enjoy the environment in a natural and unobtrusive way.

SPORTequipment This concept wants to sum up and combine the basic tools of sports (football, volleyball, basket, running, stretching...) It is important to consider that a new generation of elderly people is growing up, more inclined to do activity and spend time out of the house. These sticks will stand in the middleof green areas in order to create an integrated and multifunctional field where is possible both to play and do sport.

minimal bench

An hybrid between a bench and a sport bar. It can be used as a leaning point (because the height is 60 cm) or a tool for stretching.

football door

Taking inspiration from the pinball, I transferred the pegboard on a real football door. In this way is it possible to choose a team symbol and check the goals. Mostly for children and teens, it is an occasion for parents and granparents to join their while playing.

sound flag

This product explores the fields of sounds and noises. The flag is filled with small stones, sand, pebbles‌that make noises when shaked.

running counter

A tool that gives you the stimulus to keep running when bored. It has to be positioned in the running road at the same distance the one from the other: like a milestone it will mark the covered distance. The swinging flag gives the impression of reaching a goal.

basket

A new interpretation of the basket hoop. Shaped in an unusual and informal way, it loses its professionality and becomes a democratic game for a wider range of people. It can also be used as a hanging ring.

hook

It leaves space to the user creativity. With only a rope is it possible to create a volleyball net, a hanging game‌ Also perfect for public holidays installations: adding simple elements it creates cosy and focused spaces.

PLAYSAFE The experience of the playground is sometimes boring for parents: they feel like spectators of children´s fun. My idea would combine parents area (benches) with usual playground game (slide, tunnel, climbing,..) in order to integrate physically and psychologically these two generations in the maximum of safety.
