Success Stories from Our Students Event Planning Certificate After completing the Event Planning class, I landed myself a position as the Event Coordinator with the National Indian Health Board in Washington, DC! I will be solely responsible for planning/coordinating the Health Board’s National conferences and Public Health Summits. These conferences include speakers from Congress and the White House! I know that your class has provided me with the tools to help me along in my new position (as I am taking my big binder book, that you gave us, with me) and I want to thank you for everything that you taught me! - Krystin

Project Management Certificate 98% of our students have passed the PMP exam on the 1st try after taking the class taught by Lou Hampton, PMP. They tell us “I couldn’t have done it without your dedicated teaching and encouragement!”

Landscape Certificate Three students met in class and started Big Creek Landscape, their very own company even before the course ended! “We were so successful the first year we split off and started another company called North Georgia Landscape.” - Dave, Paul and Kristin.

GMAT Preparation The customized Success Prep GMAT Prep class is unique for a number of reasons, below are some of the reasons why our program has been successful in increasing GMAT test scores over 100 points. • We start with the basics: Most applicants to an MBA program have been out of an academic environment for a long time, which makes them weak in some of the core topics being tested on the GMAT. At the Success Prep GMAT prep class “we assume you know nothing”; this way we are able to help our students achieve success by starting from scratch, unlike other prep programs which gloss over the fundamental core concepts. • Group study method: This unique approach to teaching the GMAT Prep class has allowed us to maximize the learning experience for the student by grouping students to about 4 on a table and allowing students to share information with each other on a given problem with our tutoring staff assisting with each group. This style ensures the student gets as personal and one on one attention as possible and also gives them time to practice problems in class instead of just taking notes from the instructor. • Math & Verbal Handout & Formula Prep sheet: Our teaching material is customized to take full advantage of the 4 week, 24 hours review class. We focus on reviewing the concepts frequently tested on the GMAT using our handouts and Formula Prep sheet. The Formula Prep Sheet is designed to help the students remember the most important formulas required to succeed on the GMAT Quantitative section. • Outside the classroom: An integral part of our program is weekly homework assignments designed to keep the student engage in practice for the days they are away from the class. The homework assignments are reviewed at the next class to ensure all student questions are answered. 111CACD106

Summer 2010 Enter the World of Animation [NEW]

Digital Photography I

Whether it is beautiful hand-drawn creations; ultra realistic computer generated images; or quirky eye-catching stop-motion characters, animation is simply the art of bringing things to life. Today this medium is more accessible than ever before. Led by an award winning filmmaker and educator, this course will teach students of any artistic skill level the fundamentals of animation while guiding them in creating their own animated short film. While a variety of animation forms will be covered such as Computer Generated, Traditional Hand-drawn, and Flash/Web animation, the majority of the hands-on work will be spent creating your own unique Stop-motion film.

Whether you are brand new to the digital world, or have recently jumped in, this course will take the guesswork out and help you become comfortable with this new technology that has opened up a whole new world of photographic possibilities. The course will teach you how to use your digital camera to create great photos in a variety of conditions, how to manage your digital photo files, and print your pictures efficiently from digital sources.

As part of the course you’ll also be given resource material showing you where to get free and low-cost animation programs and tools, as well as important outlets, organizations and festivals where you can submit your films to continue your animation endeavors beyond the course. Because of animation’s prevalence in so much of today’s media, this course would be a great supplement and introduction for anyone considering web-design, filmmaking or game design as a career. 111JLEI510 CE Jonesboro Al Waller 1.5 CEU

Summer 2010

Teen Summer Camps Learn more about our summer programs at our Info Night – Tuesday, May 25 at 6:30 PM at the H.S. Downs Center for Continuing Education! Fantasy Inspired Cakes - Teen Cake Camp Ages 12-16 [NEW] Teens learn how to read a recipe, pick ingredients, use kitchen utensils including whisks, measuring cups, spoons, mixer and also use a decorating bag, icing tips, create a rose, work with fondant and proper refrigeration for certain icings. Cleanliness and cooperative team work is also taught. Of course fun is a prime ingredient as well! Fantasy is the theme for this five session class. We’ll take Color Concepts from the Twilight and Alice in Wonderland films to create a topsy turvy cake and sculpt fantasy gumpaste flowers in deep plums, blacks and silver. Supplies may be purchased from the Instructor before or at class for extra baked goods, cupcake filling tip, icing bags, icing, powdered sugar, luster dusts, decorating tips and artist brushes. The topsy turvy cake created is a “dummy cake” on styrofoam forms and embellished with gumpaste, royal icing and fondant. We will work on this cake all week. These are the display cakes you see in professional bakeries. The gumpaste flowers can be stored up to a year. The cake you create in class will last for display at least a year! For Ages 12-16. 111CYOU202 CE Main Campus
