Lab Report Guide HEADING 1. Student Name 2. Lab Due Date LAB TITLE MATERIALS 1. Create a bulleted list of materials here. 2. Be sure to report amounts of chemicals 3. Be sure to include quantities of items and materials utilized. INTRODUCTION 1- Do not copy the introduction from the lab hand out. 2- Look through your notes and assignments and provide relevant background information regarding the topics being investigated in the lab. Full credit will be given to introductions that fully articulate all necessary background information in a well-constructed paragraph in such a way that the reader would have no questions about the information or findings being investigated. PROCEDURE 1- Create an ordered list of procedures 2- Avoid using pronouns, such as I, we, you, etc. Instead talk about the experiment as if it were its own subject. 3- Full credit will be given to procedures that clearly articulate the procedure in an easy to read format, and reflect an understanding of what is expected to happen over the course of the activity. Special attention should be given to any modifications made by the instructor prior to or during the investigation. DATA 1- This section should clearly display the data collected and/or analyzed in the lab. 2- This may include, class data, personal data tables, graphs, diagrams, etc. All pieces in this section should be clearly labeled so the reader understands the information being presented DISCUSSION 1- Explain what the results of the lab were. 2- Explain the reason behind the seen results. 3- Full credit will be given to discussions where the results from the previous section are clearly described and explained using supportive information from class notes and assignments to explain the results.
