Skincare routine

Do you have a skincare routine? Developing a personal skincare routine is essential in achieving healthy and beautiful skin. An effective Black skincare routine does not have to be time consuming or complex, but it should be consistent and tailored to your personal skin type. While, no two people have identical skin, there are a few necessary components that should be implemented as a part of everyone's daily routine: cleansing, treating, and moisturizing.

Cleansing Take a few extra minutes in the morning and before bed to focus on cleaning the skin. A good cleanse will get rid of any toxins on the skin that accumulate from daily activities. Use warm water and Clear Essence's Medicated Cleansing Bar Extra Strength to remove bacteria and germs that cause acne and blemishes. Be sure to give your face a few splashes of cold water after washing to close up the pores

Treating This step is often looked over when it comes to developing a skincare routine. It is important to correct any areas of the skin that may need treatment. For Black women's skincare especially, our breakouts result in discoloration and hyper-pigmentation. A product like Clear Essence's Advanced Complex Fade Gel, will lighten any of those problem areas, while protecting the skin from the harsh UVA and UVB sun rays.

Moisturizing After cleansing and treating the skin, it's time to seal in the moisture and add protection. A good moisturizer should keep the skin smooth and supple, without creating large product build-up. Clear Essence's Skin Beautifying Milk with SPF15 is ideal, as it creates an even complexion while keeping the skin hydrated.

Myths • Black skin doesn't need sun protection. This is false! Although the melanin in our skin gives us added protection from UV rays, SPF helps to protect the skin during the lightening process and helps prevent skin cancer. • Only people with dry skin need to use a moisturizer. Also false. Moisturizing is necessary for all skin types, just be sure to use on that works with your skin and not against it.
