ROTIS & font family As a teenager Otl Aicher was exposed to the devastating effects of the Second World War firsthand. He was enlisted, against his beliefs, in the German ground troops in 1941 and served until 1945; due to illness and injuries Aicher’s military career was lackluster, and it provided him time to continue his auto didacticism by the reading and writing about philosophy, literature and art he had begun earlier. When the war ended and American troops entered Germany, Aicher returned to Ulm and became involved in the rebuilding of the city. the ROTIS HISTORY La Rotis est la famille de caractères finale du designer Otl Aicher. Nommé d’après un site d’une l’usine sudouest convertis de Munich, où Aicher a travaillé plusieurs années à développer la police de caractères. La police Rotis est l’une des premières familles de fontes à employer des sous-familles correspondant: Sans Serif, Semisans, Semi Serif, et Serif.
