Brown County PRESS Legal Notice DEADLINE Thursday

FFA Consignment Auction The Brown County FFA Auction is gearing up to celebrate its 10th Anniversary event on Saturday, January 18, 2020. The auction was started in 2010 as a fundraising project for the Eastern Brown High School FFA by Trevor Corboy and his Agriculture Education Teachers at the time, Gigi Neal and Luke Rhonemus. “I had been traveling to different auctions around the state and thought it would be a great project for our chapter and community,” said Corboy, “It was a great way to get our community involved and provided a much needed resale outlet for farm equipment.” After Trevor graduated from Eastern Brown High School, the project went with him as he was one of the founding members in the Eastern Brown FFA Alumni Chapter. This active group of community members has allowed the auction to grow into the successful event it is today. Currently, Eastern Brown, Fayetteville, Georgetown and Ripley-Union-LewisHuntington FFA Chapters as well as the Eastern Brown FFA Alumni are involved in creating an outstanding learning experience for their members. The consignment auc-

tion takes in farm equipment and machinery from area residents and presents the items for sale. The seller benefits from the collective advertising and eventual sale of the items at the auction. A small percentage of the sale is donated to the FFA Chapters in exchange for their services. It is a win-win for both parties as well as the buyers who have access to a wide variety of items that are brought to the sale. New this year for the tenth anniversary of the auction, the committee will be offering a pre-sale advertisement listing of consigned items, along with pictures, so that interested parties can be prepared for the day of the sale. To get your items and pictures on this list, please contact the auction committee at 937618-0894 as soon as possible. The majority of the sale will be held under cover this year so no worries with the weather on sale day. The Auction proceeds benefit FFA Chapters in Brown County at the high school and middle school level and provide funds for student activities, needed supplies, and scholarships for graduating seniors Along with financial proceeds, the student volunteers learn valuable skills

in the operation of a successful farm equipment auction. With the aid of their FFA Advisors and adult volunteers, the students begin in October by meeting as a committee to make decisions on budgets, advertising needs, contracts, insurance, manpower scheduling and equipment requirements from local agricultural dealerships. The week of the sale provides training on various pieces of equipment and working with the public. The students are involved every step of the way. The committee is grateful for all the support from local businesses that provide equipment and services to make the day a success. This year, the Brown County FFA Auction will begin accepting consignments at the Brown County Fairgrounds the week of the sale starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15 through Friday, January 17. To consign your items early and have them advertised prior to the sale, please contact the committee at 937-618-0894, or by email at bcffaca@yahoo.com. We look forward to seeing you on January 18, 2020 at the 10th anniversary of the Brown County FFA Auction!
