New CTC staff members CONTINUED FROM PAGE 10 talent to bring blessings to others,” she added. “Having taught music for 37 years for the Western Brown School District, I am delighted that I can continue to serve God and use my educational experience in my retirement.” “One of CTC’s most exciting events was to be invited to be a part of the Georgetown Bicentennial Celebration last summer,” added Jill Dotson, CTC’s producer. “The children performed a musical entitled, We Love America. It was a fun experience for the participants as well as the CTC Leadership Team and we believe these children will have wonderful memories of their bicentennial theatre experience when Georgetown celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2069. While none of the directors will be alive, many of our current cast members will likely participate in that event and, who knows? One of our 2019 cast members may well be directing CTC at that time,” said Dotson. “We sure hope so!” Dolores Stuhlreyer, production assistant, commented on her work with the children’s theatre. “As the cosmetology instructor and skills advisor for 20 years at the Southern Hills Career Center, I had no idea what plan God had for me after retirement, but I have surely discovered His will by being a part of CTC. Everyone on the Leadership Team pitches in where help is needed. Sometimes we teach dance, sometimes we rehearse lines with the actors, but we each have specific job descriptions as well. While I manage the cast members back stage at each production, one of my main jobs is to oversee the make-up and hair styling for our cast members. As the audience arrives for our shows, many girls are excitedly sitting back stage getting their hair done and applying make-up. The girls love this facet of the
theatre and even the boys don’t complain too much about putting on stage make-up. That’s one of the great things about CTC. We have children who love to perform and we rarely have discipline problems of any kind. They are doing what they love and want to do their very best. It makes our job so enjoyable!” Dusty Gray serves CTC in set construction and design. She has built sets for local high schools in the past and her hobby of woodworking is a passion! “Everything I know about woodworking is a direct result of countless hours working alongside my father. I know God’s hands and my dad’s hands have been right there with me during the construction of the Christian Theatre for Children’s sets. As the Christian Theatre for Children grows, so, too, must their Leadership Team. This year they are welcoming Tyler Newberry, Harriett Jackson Groh, and Deb Anderson to their staff. Each of these individuals bring special talent to the team. Tyler Newberry, a Georgetown resident, is a graduate of CTC, having played leads in every show for the past 7 years. He has seen the program from the inside out and is welcomed onto the team as the stage manager. “We have worked with Tyler and recognized his abilities since he was 12 years old. His leadership skills, ability to work well with our cast members, and dedication to CTC was cause for us to invite him to join our team. One of our goals has always been to raise up young men and women who will grow to love the arts and help lead CTC into the future. Tyler is our first graduate to join the team and we are delighted to be working with him in this new capacity,” said Stuhlreyer. Also joining the CTC Leadership Team is Harriett Jackson Groh of Ripley.
Harriett is a well-known vocalist in Brown County. She has performed vocally at many area venues and does solo concerts as well. Several years ago she was cast in a CTC Christmas show playing Oprah Winfrey. Her performance skills along with her love for the stage will make her a valuable team member. Mrs. Groh currently teaches vocal music at St. Michael School and is an administrative assistant at SHCTC. “We are excited to be welcoming Harriett to CTC. Her love for the Lord, exceptional musical skills and joyous personality will make her well-loved by our students,” added Eversole. “I have worked with Harriett in the past and believe that God has sent her our way to bring blessings to the CTC community. She will serve as a musical production assistant.” Lastly, CTC welcomes Georgetown resident, Deb Anderson to the Leadership Team. Deb was a member of the Georgetown Arts Council several years ago and welcomes the opportunity to be a part of the arts community again. Deb has also served as an art educator in the Young Rembrandt’s program in Clermont County and will bring her love for the Lord as well as her artistic skills to set design for CTC as well as working with cast members during rehearsals. This summer the Christian Theatre for Children will be operating 2 summer camps, both of which are major productions. Jr. camp, for students entering 1st – 5th grade will offer Disney’s Jungle Book, Kids while Sr. Campers in grades 6 – 12 will take on the daunting task of producing Disney’s Lion King, Jr. Registration for both camps will begin in March. The productions will be held at the Gaslight Theater and admission is FREE to all. Watch your local newspaper for scheduled dates and times.
