Ripley Alumni Dinner cancelled The Ripley-UnionLewis-Huntington Alumni Planning Committee regrettably announces the cancellation of this year’s Dinner and Meeting scheduled for May 16. Due to the current situation in our country with the Covid-19 pandemic and the real uncertainty of the months ahead, the committee felt this was the absolute best course of action. The RULH Alumni has a rich history and this will be the first time in 87 years that the event has had to be cancelled. Unprecedented times call for difficult decisions. The Planning Committee has worked diligently to address the issues that result from the cancellation of the event. Anyone who has purchased a ticket for the event has the following options: request a refund, hold the ticket until next year's event, or donate the purchase to the Alumni As-
sociation. Anyone who has a ticket purchased should contact Matthew Carpenter via email at rulhalumni@gmail.com. The Alumni Association will still be presenting two $500 scholarships to the 2020 graduating class. The committee encourages current seniors to get those applications submitted. All other scholarships that are typically presented at the Alumni Dinner will be at the discretion of the donor. Next year's event is currently scheduled for May 22, 2021. At the 2021 Alumni meeting, both the Classes of 1970 and 1971 will be honored. Again, the Alumni Committee thanks you for your understanding of this difficult decision. If you have any questions, please contact Matthew Carpenter, Alumni Association President, at rulhalumni@gmail.com.
The rich history of Grant Cottage President U.S. Grant’s personal memoirs are one of the most sought after autobiographies of historical value to date. With the help of his friend Mark Twain who published the memoirs after Grant’s death, this two-volume detail of his life was projected into the spotlight for all of America.
This memoir shares largely of his time as a General during the Civil War, but tucked into the beginning of his works, are the details of his time in Georgetown, Ohio, the place that our Native Son called home. These memoirs were written leading to the time of Grant’s death in 1885, at
the residence now known as “Grant Cottage” or the cottage on Mount McGregor. Nestled in the hilltops of the Adirondack Mountains, the cottage offered a place for inspiration and reflection during the end of Grant’s life. Grant Cottage is listed as a New York State Historic Site.

THE CAMPBELL GROUP OF SIBCY CLINE REALTORS
Catholic Rural Life There will be no meeting of Catholic Rural Life of the St. Martin Deanery in the month of April. In lieu of that meeting, here is an up-date on some of the activities of the group. The “Farming Our Faith” Spirituality Program was held on February 22, with Fr. Mark Hoying as our speaker. The event was well attended and participants listened to commentary on the scriptures and engaged in a number of exercises to bring out how farming life is in tune with the sacraments and enables us to relate to God. Rooted in the Vine youth trip: St. Martin Catholic Rural Life will coordinate the Rural Day of this weeklong immersion program on Thursday, July 2, with visits to farms and the Hope Emergency Center and programs about rural life and the care for God’s creation. Catholic Century Farm Registry: The Archdiocesan website has now been up-dated and publicity has been disseminated inviting farmers to fill out the application. Everyone is urged to spread the word, which is as follows: Catholic Rural Life of
the St. Martin Deanery would like to honor Catholic families who have farmed and nurtured the same land for 100 years or more. The admission of those families to the registry will occur at the 2020 Farm Mass to be held in September. Deadline for applying is May 31. For more information or to get an application, go to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati website, then Ministries & Offices, then Catholic Social Action, then Rural Life Ministry; or call Pat Hornschemeier (513) 752-0647 or Marilyn Fryer (937) 378-4583. The Farm Mass will be held on Friday, September 4 at 7:00 pm. We will have the Mass on that date, even though it is Labor Day week-end, since that is the only date that would work for Archbishop Schnurr. Location is still being worked out. Next Meeting scheduled for June 18 will be kept on the calendar for now in hopes that the corona virus emergency will have abated by then. For more information, call Pat Hornschemeier at 513-752-0647.
