Connection can choose to receive Industrial Certification training in mechatronics or customer service training. Both of these advanced options are taught by Cleveland State’s OneSource and end with a certificate from Cleveland State. This is a great resume booster, as well as, great training to become a better candidate for employment. The Refuge has two special events each year for children. One is School Supply Provision, where the nonprofit provides backpacks full of school supplies for grades K-12. The second is A Refuge Community Christmas. This is a shopping day for parents to come and select gifts for their children. Parents drop their kids off in the cafeteria area and head to the gym to shop while the kids participate in games, crafts, and wrapping a present for their parents. Parents select three free gifts per child and then are given the option to purchase one more gift per child, if they choose. The tent sale has gift items at an 80 to 90 percent discounted price. The parents love the tent sale. They want
to purchase their kids Christmas but need it at a price they can afford. A Refuge Community Christmas tent sale is just that. The parents then check out their items and head to the wrapping area to help wrap all the gifts they just chose so that the kids never see the items until the family decides to celebrate their Christmas. This creates more of a family bonding and memories at Christmas, as it is the parents who should be enjoying this holiday with their children not The Refuge.
