Welcome

to Wilmington Grammar School for Girls Selecting the most suitable school for your daughter is such an important decision and one which requires careful consideration. Our aim is to ensure all our students achieve both academically and socially, enabling them to excel in order to meet their ambitions, within a happy, supportive and nurturing environment.

“ My daughter loves coming to school. She is flourishing academically and has made a wide circle of new friends.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum and prompt intellectual curiosity through an enquiry based approach to learning. Our ethos is one of constant challenge and encouragement to stimulate deep thinking and provide opportunities for personal growth. We also recognise that students learn best when they are happy, relaxed and positive, so in our school we try to ensure learning is fun and innovation is applauded. This generates outstanding examination results and helps students become well-rounded and confident individuals. I think we offer something quite unique at WGSG and you are warmly invited to attend one of our Open Days and/or Evenings so you can witness first-hand what makes this school so exciting. I very much look forward to welcoming you.

Mindset Our motto is ‘In pursuit of excellence’ and this acknowledges that we are all, at all times, ‘work-in-progress’, striving for continuous improvement. At WGSG we encourage our students to be reflective and embrace challenges, to learn from mistakes and develop the resilience to have another attempt. This growth approach can lead to a happy and fulfilling school life and a willingness to adapt to change. It nurtures learners who value critique, support each other and feel empowered to drive their own learning. What better way is there to simultaneously help prepare our girls to prosper in an ever changing world?

“ I just love this school - it has helped me become who I am and I like who I am.” Year 11 student

We are delighted to promote a harmonious community where the diversity of students’ backgrounds and heritage is celebrated. An extensive external visits programme encourages the raising of cultural awareness outside the classroom, from Europe to Africa to Asia, our students have access to a wide range of experiences.

“I think there is a really strong bond between students and staff. The transition from primary school to secondary school has been pain free and full of excitement.” Year 7 parent
