THE GATEWAY LEARNING COMMUNITY The Gateway Learning Community [GLC] was launched in April 2012 and has grown into a partnership between the Gateway Academy, Herringham Primary Academy, Lansdowne Primary Academy, Tilbury Pioneer Academy and the Gateway Primary Free School. All of these schools are located within the Tilbury and Chadwell areas, which means that we are ideally situated to work collaboratively to create a seamless learning experience for all young people from Nursery to Year 11. Each academy sits within the Gateway Learning Community Trust, but retains its separate Department of Education number. The GLC Board of Directors; each academy’s Local Governing Bodies, as well of the GLC Steering Group, are responsible for the continuing development of the organisation. The GLC is located in Tilbury and Chadwell in the borough of Thurrock to the east of London close to the River Thames. London is easily accessible via road and rail [about 20 minutes] with easy access to international travel via Stansted, Gatwick and Southend airports.
WHY TEACH AT THE GLC? We are a dynamic and ambitious organisation and want to attract professionals who share our values and who will work with us to provide our young people with the very best education. In return, we promise to support your professional development with a broad range of opportunities across our organisation: these could include opportunities to work in a range of primary and secondary settings; to take part in, or benefit from action-research projects and innovations in pedagogy; to join one of 14 task groups leading these innovations throughout the GLC; through working in collaboration with our partner academies across the UK; or simply being embedded with like-minded professionals with a passion for their craft. It is in the interests of our young people to support all our teachers to give of their best: with a wealth of experts ready to support, that’s exactly what we aim to do.
