We expect our pupils to try their very best at all times and to enjoy and relish the challenges and opportunities that learning brings. This will enable them to excel at whatever they set their minds to. As part of our specialism in Mathematics, we work with specialist leaders in education and some of the UK’s top universities to focus on developing pupils’ mathematical skills. We want to ensure that your child has the skills to compete on the world stage. Our new specialist facilities, including a state-ofthe-art theatre, sports centre and recording studio, provide our pupils with limitless opportunities to showcase their talents to all within the local community and beyond. WELCOME TO HARRIS ACADEMY TOTTENHAM SIXTH FORM THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO LEARN MORE ABOUT US. We are part of the Harris Federation, which has a well-established record of delivering outstanding Sixth Form education across London. We have particularly strong links to the academically-selective Harris Westminster Sixth Form, which provides enrichment opportunities for our students.

Our Sixth Form opened in September 2016 and was graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2017 in our first inspection. Our approach is unique; we are an academic centre of excellence that ensures our young people gain the opportunities, support and guidance needed to access the UK’s leading universities and employers. The courses we offer are highly regarded by Russell Group universities, specialist colleges and by top employers. As a Sixth Former at our academy, you can expect excellent tuition, small class sizes and our full support as you work towards building a successful and fulfilling future.
We also have a range of partnerships with leading Russell Group universities, established through the excellent reputation of our Federation - including the University of Oxford, King’s College London and UCL. Your two years spent at our academy will be filled with many opportunities to develop your experience and skills. With excellent links into central London, we aim to use London as our classroom to give you the fun and fully-rounded experience of Sixth Form life you deserve. All of our students embark on a dedicated two week programme of work experience, university visits, lectures and short courses. The Harris Federation employs a team of full-time careers consultants to guide and support you as you make decisions about your future.

OUR CURRICULUM OUR CURRICULUM AIMS TO PREPARE YOU FOR CHALLENGING AND COMPETITIVE PATHWAYS – BE THAT IN EDUCATION OR INDUSTRY. As such, we offer a traditional curriculum of subjects which provide you with well-respected qualifications. Our aim is to ensure that the skills and knowledge you build enable you to access opportunities at some of the UK’s leading institutions. Therefore, our offer is predominantly A Level qualifications. Full details about individual subjects including course design, entry requirements and career progression are set out in our Course Information Booklet. This is available on the Sixth Form area of our website.

A PROFESSIONAL APPROACH YOUR TIMETABLE WILL ENABLE YOU TO SELECT A CURRICULUM THAT IS TAILORED TO SUPPORT YOUR PROGRESSION TOWARDS YOUR CHOSEN PATHWAY. There will be a significant amount of contact time and dedicated study support sessions. We expect students to take full advantage of the opportunities available, including use of our study areas and newly built learning resource centre. To enable you to make the most of your time with us, we have a range of support available through our pastoral programme and specialist careers provision.
SUPPORTING YOUR STUDIES WE SEE OUR SIXTH FORM STUDENTS AS THE ULTIMATE AMBASSADORS FOR OUR ACADEMY; OUR YOUNGER STUDENTS ASPIRE TO BE IN YOUR SHOES. As such, we place you into one of our houses, named after leading scientists and mathematicians. Your dedicated tutor provides a daily point of contact for you, whilst ensuring you have the support you need to excel in your learning. There are opportunities to work alongside our younger students in a range of capacities.

STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES OUR BUILDING HAS BEEN NEWLY RENOVATED AND PROVIDES STATE-OF-THE-ART ACCOMMODATION FOR YOUR CHOSEN FIELD OF STUDY. We have a full suite of newly refurbished classrooms, science laboratories and graphics suites. In September 2017, we opened our brand new specialism building, housing our own theatre and recording studio. There is also a new, dedicated Sixth Form area with a library, study suites and ICT resources. The next academic year will also see the opening of our Sports Centre which is built to Sports England standards. We also provide all students with a tablet during your time with us, to enable you to access the curriculum whenever, wherever.

MAKING THE MOST OF
YOUR TIME WITH US AS A SIXTH FORMER AT HARRIS ACADEMY TOTTENHAM, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE PART IN A RANGE OF ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES. These are aimed at providing you with a variety of experiences to enhance your time here such as: sports, music and performing arts clubs, climbing and bouldering at our local climbing centre, working alongside our primary school with some of our younger pupils and attending lectures and seminars at our partner school Harris Westminster. As well as being enjoyable, these experiences also strengthen your university and job applications.

PARTNERSHIPS WITH
TOP UNIVERSITIES AS A HARRIS SIXTH FORM, WE HAVE A WIDE RANGE OF PARTNERSHIPS WITH UNIVERSITIES AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS. These give our Sixth Formers meaningful opportunities and access to facilities, contacts, experiences and advice that are simply not found elsewhere. Some of the universities our Sixth Formers work with include King’s College London, Imperial College London, Goldsmiths and London South Bank University. The Harris Federation also has links with two Oxbridge Colleges which help us run a mentoring scheme for students looking to go to Oxford and Cambridge.

CELEBRATING SUCCESS AS A STUDENT IN OUR SIXTH FORM, YOU WILL ALWAYS KNOW HOW YOU ARE PROGRESSING AND WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IN ORDER TO REACH THE NEXT STAGE. Achievement will be marked at every step of the way through awards, prizes and other celebrations. Regular parents’ evenings and reports will provide a stream of feedback and advice for parents and Sixth Formers alike.

OUR LOCATION HARRIS ACADEMY TOTTENHAM IS BASED IN A NEWLY REFURBISHED BUILDING ON ASHLEY ROAD. We are delighted with the building which matches our aspirations to provide outstanding education for children and teenagers in Tottenham. Our Academy will become a hub for the newly regenerated Tottenham Hale area.
