Five schools working in partnership.
Welcome We are pleased to be able to present to you this brochure – outlining the various schools within the Pegasus Academy Trust (PAT) and what it is that we feel makes each one unique. As well as the eleven classes of reception children that will be joining us in September we also welcome new entrants into other year groups at different times of the year - as and when places become available. We hope that the information that you can find here will encourage you to find out more about our schools and look forward to showing you around in person.
“We care” and we believe this ethos shines through in all our schools and makes us a very different kind of Multi Academy Trust.
Our Vision & Ethos Pegasus was established as a Multi Academy Trust in 2011 and the drawing together of our schools, with strong leadership and an understanding of the community we serve, has proved to be a great success. We have expanded many times since our inception and now educate over 2000 children in this part of London. PAT aims to be the first choice for local parents and, to that end, none of our schools have a faith or business affiliation making them fully accessible to their local community. The schools within PAT work closely together to plan a varied curriculum that gives our children the skills and qualifications they need to be happy and productive members of society. We have not lost sight of the value of a fully rounded education - and sporting and creative opportunities are an integral part of what our schools offer. At the heart of our mission statement is the clear statement “We care” and we believe this ethos shines through in all our schools and makes us a very different kind of Multi Academy Trust.
Located just off Green Lane, to the North-West of Thornton Heath, Beulah Infant School provides a welcoming and exciting learning environment that enables children to “be the best that they can be” with an emphasis on independence, resilience and positive attitudes.
Through outstanding provision, in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments, the school helps children take the first steps on their journey to achieve to their full and unique potential. Staff at Beulah Infants understand and celebrate the diversity of their children who have different experiences, interests and strengths, which may influence the way they learn. The school builds positive relationships with parents, carers and the wider community working together to give our children the best possible start in life. At the heart of the community since 1873 - come and see what it is that makes this school so special.
When parents talk about Cypress Primary one word comes up again and again – “Community”. The commitment of the parents and carers to Cypress, the partnership between home and school to support the children in their learning and the busy PTFA are real features of this school and families new to the school will find there are lots of opportunities to get involved.
Cypress is organised across two sites (Lower: Two year olds – KS1, Upper: KS2) which are both on Cypress Road. The school has three classes per year group and lots of ‘green space’ surrounding the buildings for the children to engage in outdoor learning. Children are at the heart of everything at Cypress; and the staff strive to give them the best opportunities that they can. The community feel at Cypress is something really special and one that we would love you to be part of.
Hidden away in leafy grounds, Ecclesbourne Primary School was a founder member of the Pegasus Academy Trust back in 2011 and the school has been on a successful journey of improvement ever since. The Trust invested in an extensive programme of refurbishment at the school resulting in bright spacious classrooms and light, airy communal areas.
EPS has been repeatedly recognised in Ofsted reports as having gone from strength to strength and is increasingly the school of choice for families in the area. We are proud of the school’s nurturing ethos, excellent standards of behaviour for learning and we celebrate the clear moral purpose of the staff in caring for all the children in the school. Ecclesbourne offers strong academic credentials aiming to develop enthusiastic, independent learners alongside a rich programme of extracurricular activities including excellent music provision on our custom built ‘Jam Bus’. Whitehorse Manor Schools Brigstock site is an Annexe of Whitehorse Manor Infant and Junior Schools. This £4.5m school opened in 2014 and has a very different feel from the other schools in the Trust as it has only one class in each year group. With a total capacity of 210 children parents say you ‘feel like family’. Children from Reception to Year 6 work on a varied and enriching curriculum delivered by a hard-working and dedicated staff team.
The staff at Brigstock strive to develop children to be life-long learners and are proud of the excellent outcomes that the children achieve. Brigstock is a multicultural school that celebrates the diversity of the local community through classroom practice, assemblies and popular social events. The children here are polite, caring and exemplify our school ethos of being a ‘Pegasus Person’. The school works closely with parents to ensure that our children fulfil their potential and succeed in their endeavours.
Whitehorse Manor Infant School is a happy school in which children can develop in a disciplined, secure and stimulating environment. This is a successful school and for many years has been one of Croydon’s most popular choices for parents. Staff are extremely hardworking and dedicated. Pupils’ achievement is outstanding, behaviour is excellent and pupils are polite and friendly.
The curriculum at Whitehorse Infants is rich and encourages children to enjoy, achieve and make positive contributions in all areas of life. This is a true London school with more than thirty different languages spoken by the children that attend and their families. Diversity is valued and promoted throughout the school, in classrooms, in assemblies and through social events such as our annual Family Celebration Evening. Staff at Whitehorse Infants are proud of their school and its achievements! You are welcome to visit and see what this looks like ‘in action’.
At Whitehorse Manor Junior School staff aim to develop children’s skills for life and know that it is important to teach them to be resilient learners. Children achieve best when there is a partnership between home and school and the school does everything possible to foster this.
At Whitehorse Juniors staff pride themselves on the fact that the curriculum at their school is specifically designed for the children in this community and place great emphasis on literacy and maths - with additional provision for sport and music. The school has national quality marks in the teaching of basic skills as well as many healthy school awards. The school runs a wide range of extra-curricular activities and involves every child in whole school productions. The impressive design of the newly refurbished school was recognised with a RIBA award and led one architectural magazine to award the school the title of ‘best school building in the world’ in 2017.
